Why the hell this build sucks in terms of damage and how can it be fixed?
My staff is a decent one (376 Rating: Damage, Radius, Warp Rez. and Charge Rate is between 76-79 and 69 [Nice] Quell Speed)
My sword could use some work (It’s hard meh), but the point is:
I’m constantly missing break points on Damnation. This build shines in Heresy even HiSTG, but when it comes to damnation it falls short.
What am I doing wrong? (Yes, all those block bonuses are to tank daemonhost, just in case there is not an Ogryn around or I fumble “Big ball of Doom”).
Also it’s me or primary attack (the one you don’t have to charge) is better when dealing with 1 or 2 Ragers right in your face? Pulling out Illisi vs Rager is a death sentence (for me), I’m still having trouble with timing heavy charged slashes and block-push. Surge helps if your teammates are around and are willing to help.
Voidstrike with surge kind of wants full crit build to be really useful
I’d suggest adding crit aura (you will have to adjust the whole build)
It would be also useful to add +5% crit to the staff and to use Warp Nexus instead of Warp Flurry
Should say that on Psykers I still prefer using revolver and autoguns, voidstrike feels much clunkier
With the Voidstrike I would use something like this
I also prefer dueling swords as melee, but its just me who does not care about that DH tanking
You can swap Psychic Leeching or Perilous Combustion with Kinetic Deflection if you really want
Void strike needs charge speed in order to be viable it’s a must, the 2nd blessing is up to you.
“Perfect timing” is not gonna works unless you spam weaks shots to stacks some crits for a little 15% damage ( you also need warp nexus for enough crits% ) and lead you to less effective toughness Regen choices : aim for toughness from péril vent/kill they are way better.
You can skip completely venting on kill : battle meditation. You benefit from high peril and venting shriek will save you if need.
Plus you have two soulblaze talents like wildfire who can help clearing, since you on venting shriek it’s free.
As for smite is up to you, I personally don’t use it with others staves than surge because they do the same job as staggering/killing multiple enemies but if you struggle it’s okay.
Head pop give better result on killing important targets.
A shield build is also a good option.
Peril block one of the best perk for psyker.
If you intend to use the voidstrike staff with surge blessing, you might want to invest 2 more points into the bottom right branch to get a guaranteed ranged crit after 5 headshots.
You can drop one of the two 15% toughness nodes at the top as well as the 10% bonus dmg to smite targets.
I am a bit surprised that nobody else has suggested this so far.
The “guaranteed ranged crit after 5 headshots“ talent counts melee and ranged headshots, and even counts multiple headshots, when single attack hits multiple heads.
When fighting hordes (and aiming well) you can get the surge blessing to trigger on pretty much every single voidstrike cast.
2 balls per cast, both balls can hit multiple heads. With a bit of practice, you can make use of the small delay between the two balls being shot, to flick the second ball towards a slightly different direction.
If you want to use nexus or flurry as 2nd blessing, depends on your playstyle.
If you are good at headshotting with the staff, you do not need the bonus crit from nexus, when fighting hordes, since you get guaranteed crits from the talent.
If you use your melee quite regularly, you will also often have your guaranteed crit up, when you swap to your staff to delete a crusher.
Damnation is a different game over Heresy, breakpoints are shifted and you are expected to rely more on player movement, dodging, sliding etc, you cannot just bruteforce through everything anymore
I wouldn’t build for crit damage with voidstrike, instead build for sustain with Transfer Peril / Battle Medition. If you insist on Surge blessing, pair it with Warp Nexus
Illisi is decent, if you want easier life vs ragers, Deimos Mk IV is better (dont use force attacks unless 1vs1). I would suggest Duelling Sword instead, as force sword dodges are no longer unlimited. Duelling Sword Mk IV has a briliant heavy attack chain, duelling swords special attack stagger ragers out of their chain attacks
Smite is good, in fact too good, but if you want to do damage switch to Assail instead (just dont blow yourself up). Assail also deals crazy dmg vs groups of lighter elites, such as ragers, and specials
I have tried this build recently but it feels like it only gives you the crit after 5 headshots and ignores any natural crits? Is it like V2 zealot talent where you get the guaranteed crit but won’t crit normally?
Until … the trees where the shield ability is too good a team ability to pass on in aurics, PERIOD.
Interrupts from your brain bursts (you use smite which is quasi pure crowd control) that always get downed before completion and shield are not counted in scoreboards worth a salt.
Hence scoreboards can be useless as reference to your team’s success.
