Im not sure where to posts this as its a bug with forums, so Im posting it in the lounge.
When Im quoting a post or replying to a post, quite often my quoted section dissappears or the indicator to show Im replying directly to a post within a thread doesnt show up.
the forum code is abnormally picky, and usually wants the brackets to be exactly right. the quote bracket needs to be on it’s own seperete line from the text, go fix that and see if it works.
Im using the in-built “selection to quote” thingy the forum has, also its happening when I press the reply button.
It does work if I go back and edit the post and redo the quote from selection, but sometimes Im lazy 
Edit: so I clicked reply to your post, but I dont see the thing that shows I replied, although I do get an indicator as I edit this post

Does this happen to you whenever you directly quote the post above yours? If so, that is actually not a bug. It’s a feature they use to reduce the “spam” inside threads. But you can also circumvent it by going back to edit your post and applying the quote once again.
It’s a bit weird and I really think it’s not a good solution to keep spam inside threads down. More elegant in my opinion would be to return quoted text and pictures with less view size or to automatically hide them in the “details” function as example text below:

Yes! It deffo happens when I quote a post above. I assume this affects the reply feature in the same way.
I can understand why they did this but I do like your solution!
I want to reply to a specific part of a post while avoiding the rest because lets face it, if I can cherry pick weak parts and avoid problematic bits full of disagreeable things like “truth” and “valid arguments” then it makes my reply much stronger!
Im kinda joking, but this is potentially part of the reasoning! (I dont want that to come across too tinfoil hatty) I often expect people to act in good faith, but I am a fool so… 
I am also often dissapointed, although Iv found the FS forums are surprisingly civil even at the worst of times. In part its thanks to the good moderation by the mods. 
I do appreciate you guys! In part, because Iv found many of you to be a genuinely good community! 
In reality, sometimes I just dont have the time or willpower to cover everything in someones post and I want to address what I feel is the most important part of a debate or highlight my thoughts on a specific sentence. You solution would still allow that while avoiding bloat.
While I guess it should have been obvious to me that this was what was happening, I havent kept my HD2 tag as “space cadet” for nothing
