AS title, the current fomo shop of slow rotations uh, really sucks, there is not a single good thing about it, sure it has the fomo of “buy it now” but like, theres no incentive too because itll eventually come back into rotation, right? well, maybe not, when you cycle the same few cosmetic sets for an entire year, genuinely theres TONS of other cosmetics and you just keep recycling the same few ones, why??? and ontop of that, if you already bought the cometics last rotation and they keep recycling that, then you have nothing new to buy, does fatshark want our money or not?
just add a normal shop where we can buy whatever we want whenever we want instead of this crappy fomo shop
They don’t want you to see duplicates they sell as seperate items and million of lazy recolors they also sell as seperate items (painting paid cosmetics is a basic feature in most F2P games btw)
I think about them every evening, right until I fall asleep.
We should STOP these complaints about FOMO now and forever.
FS feel sad when someone says FOMO is bad, and when FS feel bad, they can’t work on new DLCs and paid cosmetics.
It’s unacceptable.
It helps them obfuscate and even resell identical cosmetics.
This store was the one thing in the game that functioned 100% correctly on launch.
Fatshark will not change unless review bombed into oblivion about these practices and even then we will have to keep our boots on their necks for years to get them to not immediately go back to being player-hostile the second they feel they can get away with it.
But they do care about profit. And whenever Steam reviews drop to Negative they’re very quick to be super communicative and apologetic and may even revert some changes.
The Chinese end of the community review bombs often and Fatshark CMs actually make an effort to appease them specifically about their bugbears (usually minor nerfs to meta).
Ergo, if we want to see change, we need to make them worry about profits. Then they’ll actually do something. Heck, the backlash to the store on launch (which was, hard as it is to believe, even worse from a FOMO standpoint than it is now) got us changes.
Leave a negative review. Cite the FOMO cash shop and all its practices as why. Convince everyone who plays this game to do the same if you can. Fatshark’s craven management will bend.
Modern live service titles don’t offer cosmetics catalogues anymore, every big title under the sun is doing rotating store bundles. This ship has sailed and it won’t come back to harbour until e.g. the European Union makes dark patterns illegal. Not even Steam reviews can have an effect here.
Helldivers 2, arguably the most successful new live service game in the last several years, removed the existing rotations due to player outcry AND they have a way to farm premium currency.
The internet also says Arc Raiders adds most previously featured items to a customization menu and are avialable for purchase at any time, but I don’t play or know anyone that does to get the first hand details.
The internet says the same thing about Marathon. While not looking to survive much longer, it was a huge launch by a notoriously greedy company and it doesn’t use strict rotations.
I don’t care to research more, but it appears you’re not so correct.
