Yeah!
What’s crazy, is that the most difficult part of retention is making something so awesome that people will spend hundreds if not thousands of hours doing it – they’ve done that! As for the rest, whoever is in charge – respectfully – needs a reality check.
Let people play what they want: Custom matchmaking and lobby browser.
Being subject to a random array of mission/modifiers feels quite unnecessary. Not that I really mind what map I play (as long as it’s not the same one ad nauseum), but having good modifiers is make or break for my experience. It feels so bad when you fail a mission and get amped up to re-try and it’s gone. Likewise if you can’t even re-try a mission of similar difficulty (oh ok it’s the same modifier, just a different map --let’s roll).
Bonus for providing an organic method for finding similarly deranged people who want to play your crazy mix of modifiers (or you theirs). Evidently community-building is not a priority as the Mourningstar is deplorable and partying up is not really a thing (in no small part due to the implementation), but still – this alone would be revolutionary.
Let people buy what they want: Turn the rotation into a catalogue.
It boggles my mind that this has been so mismanaged. Yes, I have no idea what the current sales volume is, but if you think that this is a system that’s got no room for improvement then boy do I have a rant for you.
I can only assume that whoever was in charge left, and because it isn’t broken they won’t fix it. Because anyone can see that it’s not a scalable solution, and if you wanted to make a little more profit then the first place you’d look would be the shop. The ultimate irony is that it’s not exploitative enough, lol. Just open that sucker up and let us nerds buy some beige cargo pants, or whatever.
