Who tf wants to be carried through the hardest try hard mode? And are they the target audience? Why should they be relevant in any case?
Yeah, shockingly… I’ve witnessed a bit of trolling a few games myself. Not sure what’s going on, just people griefing matches to get a rise out of you. Best you can do is report them or block their a$$. I’ve seen this in higher Havoc games as well. One guy was playing decent for like half the game then would go “AFK” & come back playing just fine & rinse/repeating the same thing. Another guy just running ahead of everyone & dying constantly rushing & triggering bosses, etc. Just sht like this. Obviously, I can tell this was on purpose. That’s why I always play pre-mades when I can & not pubs. Pubs are super c@ncer sometimes.
that’s exactly the problem. if there was quickplay and no deranking, you would just block the clowns and start again. as it is, they waste your time, you lose a rank if you’re under 40 and they don’t risk anything. brilliant.
You can’t block them all, FS has a ridiculously small block limit.
This is one for the books.
The amount of trolling for that A.S.S. title surely spawned another chaos god in the warp.
I guess I was lucky in not giving a crap and having at last 1 regular buddy to play with, but holy crap I bet a lot of people suffered from others alt-f4ing if the laments of us joining games where multiple people had come and gone is anything to go by.
A relatively shockingly large % of the player base after #13, far more than I could have predicted. From malice straight into damn auric maelstrons with zero soft gatekeeping to keep them out, and the ASS title made it worse.
I’ve blocked so many people that I have to unblock just so that I can block the next person LOL. It’s kinda funny, but honestly, I think it’s more fun to play the game itself than just to grief. I get it, some games it’s actually hilarious to see people grief & others to get mad, but this is one of those games that it’s just actually more shtty than actually funny in my eyes. There genuinely is no point at all.
it is, and it’s sad that one can’t trust those at rank 40 of all people, and neither block all of them that turn out to be morons.
It almost makes you not want to even play Havoc sometimes. It sucks because Maelstroms are a bit too easy & I like Havocs because there’s actually some degree of challenge there. It’s just fun with the right people.
exactly this. it’s basically a mode for premades where you know people and trust them.
deranking because of getting trolled sounds like a way to make sure i don’t want to touch havoc again.
Yeah, this I feel is the crux of the issue, though Antilus brought up some very good points too.
I feel if they just ‘let people eat cake’ and didn’t have a derank system in general, just an ascension to the highest point and the ability to choose what level you wanted to stay at once you achieved it, that would allow for people ‘at the top’ to naturally autofill into lower tier things to help out the tinies, while also allowing those at the top to play at the highest level they want while maybe having to try and carry some tinies with them for even greater challenge.
As it stands right now, 40 is a haven as it’s the only rank that doesn’t demote you, but it means people at 40 will only play 40 for fun, and those below 40 as stated, are ‘stuck in elo hell’ because why would anyone at 40 go play a random 39? thus instead of there being tiers that people can pop in on (say, every 5 levels can be match mad into one another, so a 35 can be placed in a 40 and if they succeed, ample reward, and such), do what they can, and if they fail go ‘ohh darn’ and try again. You just get an infinite slog fest for every single player that isn’t already done with havoc, as they can only play and match with other players similar to them, thusly creating a melting pot of crap where all the top end players stay in their bubble of a happy place (with countless trolls getting there rocks off for ruining there fun with no possible recourse), while all the people just trying to desperately get there match with insanely terrible players becaus those are literally the only ones that will join them, and they have to literally be gods or get demoted for no fault of there own.
During the last Havoc games I played last weekend (finally got all the weekly chests, I’m free, Emperor I’m freeee), I literally had this happen right in front of me. Wanted to try out my boltgun vet build, joined a fresh 16 for an ‘easy win’ as I’ve been tending to do. Literal entire team where children including the host, likely just barely got carried through their first malestrom and got allowed into havoc. Every wave resulted in every single one of them going down or dying, with me forcing use about half way through the mission before we got to the long bridge and it spawned two beasts of nurgle and a captain, and I finally could not help but get rolled. Game was literally unplayable, only to be followed up with me doing a 20, happening to get lucky with the host finding one other zealot like me (a good player just doing a lower one for the chest), and me and him hard carried the 20 with the other two falling over every so often as we went.
It’s just, a cluster, a real ‘nobody wins’ level of design. Hardcore players that just want to do the hard stuff are more likey to find trolls trying to ruin their games because they get no penalty for it and can’t be blocked, everyone else doesn’t get any of those hardcore players carrying their games so they get smoked and forever lose their rank. With error codes and server meltdowns all the while that have a high chance at just force ejecting multiple members of your team into character select trying to mash the reconnect button.
Havoc just isn’t it atm XD. Nobody got what they wanted here, as the system is just terrible, even if the mode itself is actually rather fun when you get lucky enough to be allowed to play it (with the right minded team mates and such).
I never saw that, but this 3 last weeks has become normal… I don’t like it.
does blocking them on steam by account help?
had a few special ones where i wanted to make sure this waste of oxygen never polutes my lobby again.
Hmm. Interesting. I would say that it might be even better potentially. I’m not sure by blocking them on Steam blocks them in Darktide, so you’re not forced to link up with them again, but it would make sense if it did work that way, I would imagine. There’s a mod where it actually shows you their Steam info, etc. You click it & it brings up their profile. There was one instance where some guy pissed me off to the point where I blocked him in-game & on Steam. If only Fatshark would have unlimited blocking. I know this isn’t some silver bullet or anything, it’s at the very least a band-aid solution that I’m cool with for sure.
How do you come from: “they removed 50% of the deranking system and pugs became awful” to " they have to remove 100% of deranking and everything will be good"? The amount of hoops you jump through just to somehow justify not loosing your damn rank baffles me.
i got “whoareyou” set to show the steam account first and character name only second.
if someone pisses me off more than usual, not only do i have him “on tape”, its 2 clicks to ban the madafagga on steam as well
The grind for A.S.S. by the noobs era was the Dark Age of Darktide. I remember Auric Maelstrom being completely unplayable because you either backfilled a doomed run/got loaded into the defeat screen or had to endure the endless carousel of ragequiters and witness the team cycle through 3-4 teams before the mission end. Oh, and if the mission ran out during the playtime, nobody could join you and you were left with the bots.
Absolute clown fiesta.
Haha. I distinctly remember a game on baross where 8 people entered and left during the battery carrying circus alone.
Deranking seems exclusively designed to loose players’ time and maintain them occupied. In its spirit, it reminds me “locks” in many ways
I made a few posts on these “player retention” mechanics, and, in a nutshell, I’m not amused.
It’s meant to gatekeep scrubs out of the higher ranks, which is redundant because anyone who’s vaguely serious about filtering their teammates installs mods that let them see their level and loadout first and decide based on this
