to be fair this is the most minigame-heavy mode.
if there’s any justification for cheat mods for skipping minigame, this is it

i put already the qol mod for the new mini game, imagine wasting time with mini games but not playing the actual game
Not sure what you have been playing, normally I play Havoc and I have 1 minigame per match and a good 25-30 min of heretic bashing.
Game is not rewarding you if you stop to kill stuff, it’s not that difficult a concept to understand…
So you all complain that the loot is meaningless, just like it is in havoc.
But won’t embrace a fight in this mode, which is more chaotic and challenging than some Havoc 40 matches.
Understood completely.
You should try to read what I’ve written instead of sperging out randomly.
I’ll try once again with simpler words:
In Havoc/Normal Missions you need to kill stuff or you are not getting out of the mission.
In Expeditions, the less you kill, the faster you get out and less amount of enemies spawn.
It REWARDS fighting less.
Where have I ever written this, are you ok?
Nah, I’m just done tiptoeing around all yous parroting this mode is boring and meaningless and blah blah blah. Nobody has to like it, but those reasons are lazy at best.
Nothing in the game means anything. Combat is the game.
Yes they flubbed rewards hardcore. That’s even more freeing. They don’t mean anything, so fight to your heart’s content, even past the timer (you’re an H40 god, right?)
It’s an open ended mode, you can make of it what you want, right now at least.
I go in every expedition looking for a fight and I only come out disappointed with bugs and crashes.
It’s no different than going back to H40 again and again for the challenge. There is just more you can do than point A to point B.
Naa brother I’m good, I’ve no wish to engage in this discussion if your every post is basically a meltdown.
I didn’t mind the loot being meaningless in CW, because that gamemode was actually fun at the core. The root issue is that the gamemode is boring and feels the same, and you have to keep playing it to unlock more of the same of it. The whole dynamic is meaningless, nothing about it is actually compelling replayability. So I very much agree with you, the gameplay itself is the biggest problem.
I assume you aren’t specifically referring to me, I kind of see their point though in that the mode is sorta at odds with itself. The meta-progression wants you to just loot and go, the actual gameplay in tide games is fun when you’re knee deep in poxwalkers.
Optimally I would love if they treated it with care and made it fun and add compelling replayability via just having it be a good mode. Alternatively, I’d like if the tech remnants at least did something, integrate a new crafting progression that way. Path of Exile kinda works like that. The League mechanics are usually boring and simplistic, but the real addition to the game is how the new crafting options and items will affect the rest of the game positively.
To apply that concept to Darktide, it would’ve been fine if expeditions weren’t that indepth (but still suboptimal mind you) if you could at least buy some new weapons with that. Like a longlas or a rad gun for tech remnants. Makes perfect sense even. Then you can play a bit of the gamemode and go back to normal missions with new toys. Or allow you to craft trinkets with tech remnants. Not strictly needed but nice for people to finish and round out their builds.
Fatshark instead struck the middle ground where the gamemode is neither inherently interesting, nor actually offers any meta rewards.
Damn. If there ever was a game mode that cries out for the much-requested longlas it’s this one. Maps chock full of high-ground arenas and sight lines. I’d even consider buying it from the Deadsider store as a temporary pickup if that was a thing!
As much as I have mixed feelings on having actually meaningful rewards (FS burned me..), Rule of Cool dictates that it would be extremely badass to introduce and unlock a special weapon from the new mode.
It would certainly also introduce no shortage of complaints (why i gotta grind mode to get gun), but… it would be pretty cool… And you know what, since longlas would not be for Ogryn, we can give:
(No I will not stop linking this post until we get the thing)
For me it was the best experience actually. The initial experience with all those constant unlocks of new things you are showered with is just non-stop dopamine trip, I was completely hooked on the game when I was leveling up my first 4 classes, I was playing unhealthy amount of hours per day, without exaggeration. Past that point it was much more boring and I would really love to get back that experience of having some thing to unlock ahead. At that point I’ve even unlocked almost all penances too, not much to wait for.
I actually leveled up 4 new characters after that, 2 DLC, and lately 2 duplicates of base characters when I was accompanying friends who started to play recently (and I needed more builds slots on psyker and zealot anyway) - and it still was pretty fun and interesting experience, I didn’t felt bored at all. I was able to go back to basics, play with some new folks who are just starting their adventure and (hopefully) show them how good DT play and team spirit looks like - it felt refreshing. Overcoming limitations of underleveled characters when even Malice feels challenging also was kinda fun. And it takes so little time anyway, like I did one of the characters over 3 days course I think. Not the kind of a grind I would call an issue.
