So can we take dreg(and scab too i guess but they arent as bad as dreg) shotgunners out of the list of mobs the AI director is allowed to spawn directly behind you? Give them an audio cue? Fix their cues that make them swap to melee when you get close enough like they are supposed to rather than barrel stuff you like the actually do? Give us a curio blessing that lets us take reduced damage from them? Make them not do double my total health pool in damage(toughness and HP combined, about 350-400 while on damnation they do 750 Like I’m okay with letting them do punishing amounts of damage at close range. . . Its a shotgun. But letting the AI director spawn multiple of them within 10 feet of my back while I am already fighting a decent sized horde is some of the craziest work I have ever seen. One second I’m fighting through a horde of mixed rangers and normal melee units and the next my whole screen shakes 90 degrees sideways and I go from 100% toughness and HP to 1% hp. Anyone got any better ideas how to balance them better? Cause they seem way to over tuned to me.

[Hell Nah GIFs | Tenor] Shotgunners need some Respect to be put on their name, especially the Scab ones. Buff em to hell and back – that will also allow the AI director to stop spawning entire goddamn batalions of them in missions.

It’s not all, AFAIK any standard elite and specialist mob can be “dynamicly spawned in to put pressure on you and your team” Its usually poxwalkers, ragers, hounds, shotgunners and bursters. (More than half of silent bursters are likly due to AI director spawns) Some people have even reported ogryn mobs like bulwarks are sometimes on that list but I have yet to have that happen to me personally. Edit: also yes I’m aware if you try and barrel stuff them with a ranged weapon they won’t switch to melee but I don’t think its a very well known own fact so I’m all for more people knowing this. What i was originally referring to is dreg shotgunnera not switching to melee weapons until you have already closed in on them and whacked them a few times. . . Even then its not always a sure thing they will switch.

[image] SexyLilSeaOtter: Some people have even reported ogryn mobs like bulwarks are sometimes on that list but I have yet to have that happen to me personally. Maybe these were reports from two updates ago. But after a Balance patch between updates and the Skitarii update, 2 Ogryn types had their spawn rate significantly reduced (Crushers were reduced in the Balance Patch, and the Bulwarks were reduced in the Skitarii update – trash shield enemies were introduced in the same update to compensate)

I’d just like to know the thought process behind them switching to a melee weapon while wielding half auto mag fed shotguns.

Ranged damage was exceptionally oppressive when the game came out. In many respects, it still is, and can blindside teams not expecting it or with builds poorly suited to absorbing the burst of range. Especially if said build can shut off when not attacking things. Now apply that to a CQB enemy that gains accuracy as it gets closer while also doing enough damage to strip toughness off entirely in a single shot. That’s the thought process of why they swap. They can do stupid amounts of damage in melee and Darktide is a game that’s supposed to be fun first and foremost.

[image]Grim Protocols - Patch Notes - Pt. 2 Removed pushback on Shotgunner attacks. I believe this is the worst nerf shotgunners ever got. So yeah would be nice to have early shotgunners with fewer numbers maybe.

I came here expecting to be able to commiserate with other people who used to shotgun their drugs. Sufficeth to say, I’m extremely disappointed.

This definitely overnerfed them, but I absolutely hated this. It was so incredibly unfun, and I would rather shotgunners get something different to make them more engaging rather than yet another thing reducing my ability to move where I want to.

I cant remember much of my 20s either. You arent alone.

“Hey let’s make this mob that can nearly one shot people already, take their pushback away and make their damage done within 20 feet of them stunlock the character for for a 2 Mississippi count” “Omfg thats a great idea! Get this man a raise and make him the director of the dumbass decision department!” A conversation that probably actually happened at fatshark hq
