Does anyone unironically use Brain Rupture?

He is good at killing but he is a shitty teammate based on that footage. He’s off in lala land playing his own game and blowing up pox busters on teammates. At least he helped with revives but that’s the only time he ever intentionally went near teammates.

Brain burst: you mean I get to roleplay as Johnny The Homicidal Maniac and make any elite or special’s head explode with impunity?
In the words of ‘Nny,’ “And the chorus swells!”

It’s the strongest offensive Blitz available to psyker, what are you talking about

Especially after venting where it is SO fast…

You have 3 dimensions.
Use them.
Just jump and lock onto the sniper while mid air.
Problem solved.

Same thing when locking onto specials and elites in hordes.
Just jump and you will have an easy time targeting them.

You only need to aim at the target for a brief moment, when locking on.
You can perform wild movements, while charging your BB and you can break line of sight.
Make use of those features.

Also doesn‘t hurt to make your psyker tall.
It will actually elevate your POV and also make it a bit easier to hit heads in general.
You will also become a slightly bigger target and might not be able to use some types of cover anymore, but that probably does not matter that much to most players.

I don’t really think there’s a problem with brainburst. It’s about recognizing when to use it and when not to, and with the right build it’s really strong.

Yes. It’s clearly not designed in a way where it’s supposed to be your main weapon.

The problem isn’t brainburst, the problem is you expect it to be your main weapon. Just accept that it isn’t and you will find that it’s absolutely fine.

There are builds with smite or assail where those can be your main weapon (and where you pretty much ignore your ranged weapon like guns or staves), and there are builds where you main a staff and use brainburst for special situations.

It’s a psychic power for killing specials and ranged (and helping teammates fight bulwarks and monstrosities too), at which it excels. Not a horde-clearing power. It’s amazing at what it does.

You just have to rewire your own brain to accept that it isn’t a main weapon. It combines excellently with purgatus staff, which will be your main weapon for most things. You run around and burn stuff most of the time (so the staff is the main weapon), then when you face a train of specials (or blessed berserkers) you pop venting shriek and quickly brainburst them down. Back to purgatus and flame on. Nice and easy once you get the hang of it. Stop expecting it to be your main weapon.

Partially inspired by this thread, I made a build to really lean into BB/BR, and it’s been stuuuupid fun.

I’ve been playing a ton of Gaze Gunker with the recon lasgun, where BR is used for snagging running specials, giving me a free damage boost with Kinetic Flayer (which is practically guaranteed to be close to an insta-cast on whatever I’m shooting with the recon’s RoF), and taking out bulwarks/crushers. I love moving fast and killing fast with Gaze. Loads of fun.

But after seeing Wobin mention that the Kinetic Resonance bonus stacks, I switched from Gaze to the 2x telekine shield with Empower Psyonics. I’m having a blast popping heads like crazy while also providing a bit more utility to the team than Gaze provides. Betweeen Resonance and Psyonics, I can pop and pop and pop. Then, once I cap out on peril, I switch over to the recon and unload on any enemy to quell down with Tranquility Through Slaughter, while also proccing Perfect Timing so that my pops almost always have 15% extra damage.

Great fun! Highly recommended!

I should do a brainburst guide, because I get the impression that 90% of players making threads/posts like this just don’t know how awesome of a tool it is.
