ogrynomicon helped me tremendously, as well as watching others play back in the day until i was fit for damnation and later auric maelstrom myself.
there are mechanical practices that need to be repeated to be pulled off reliably when in need, aka shove a dog, dodge a net.
how many times in an auric maelstrom is there room for failure to dodge or get netted without repercussion.
the learning effect is then pretty slim not knowing why the shove failed ( distance ) or the net got through ( timing/lag )
i was 3 days ago days old when i learned the block/pummel combo with the pickaxe from repetition alone for it wouldn´t trigger reliably in action for some odd reason.
not that i use it over the raking move, but still better understanding of my tools make me more comfortable using them and chosing what to use and when.
Gating by time doesn’t really work. Eventually anyone can reach that milestone of entry into a highest difficulty.
But if say for example T6 missions give exact dockets/materials/weapon drop as doing T5 or T5 Auric - It means those choosing T6, do so for the challenge because they’re not doing it for the reward.
The classic problems with these games is the difficulty and reward ramping. The lower difficulties are so easy that they are completely boring and don’t prepare them for higher difficulties. The rewards are also pretty poor and the grind is long, so why not chance it.
