Developer Update - February 28

Thanks for stopping by this brief update! This week saw the experimental PC Beastman-taming-beta come offline and the changes, along with some additional fixes, put out to the live version of the game. Hopefully, you’re finding a better balance of bad guys in your adventures. Thanks to those of you who tested the beta and provided feedback! You rock!

Vermintide 2 Turns Two

With March 8th approaching, we’re looking forward to celebrating the two year anniversary since Vermintide 2 was released on Steam! We’ve only have you all to thank for the success of Vermintide 2, of course having joined us on the journey so far, or part of it perhaps, yet here reading this post all the same. So again, thank you for being here and we hope you enjoy what we have in store for you for 2020 and Year 3, or ~ 2524 IC!

To celebrate the anniversary we’ll be letting the heroes loose on the streets of Helmgart to have A Quiet Drink (hopefully) and relax a little. They’ve earned it! The special adventure map will be available between the 5th and 12th of March and will be partnered with a limited time Quest reward to mark the occasion.

We’ll also be hosting a Fatshark Stream on the 6th of March where we’ll grab some devs, do some Show & Tells, check out some mods and play some games with you all.

We’ve also partnered with a bunch of Streamers you’ll no doubt know, they’ll be celebrating along with us and all of you over on Twitch where we’ve armed them with some Swag to distribute as they see fit! We’ll get a schedule up and announced next week, but in the meantime chuck them a follow and you’ll be informed when they come online!

Xbox One and Playstation 4

Yesterday we pushed out a bunch of fixes for the console versions of Vermintide 2. With a bunch of crashes fixed, players should also experience much better connection stability with other players and be dropped far less frequently from matches where the host as unfortunately crashed out. Thanks for reporting these issues to us and bearing with us as we get these things patched up!

The process on consoles is much more complex than the relative freedoms we have on Steam to push updates more frequently, so we genuinely feel for you during times of instability. It’s never our goal for you to feel alienated or left behind and we do appreciate it can feel that way. We just want you to know it’s neither malice or lack of care, just things (processes mostly), are very different on these platforms.

*Happy Saltzpyre Steamtank noises*

What kind of swag are we talking about? Physical items? In–game items?

I believe there’s a mix of both.

Interesting, I’ll keep an eye out for those items then. ^^

@Fatshark_Hedge this is so exciting! I’ll be assembling a proper crew and we will, undoubtedly, be trying to keep pace with the Uber-Doober 5 as they have a quiet drink.

Not full pace, perhaps, but I want to give Kruber a run for his money. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and I look forward to stabbing rats, having laughs, and (as @KaelusVonSestiaf mentioned) making steam-tank noises! Woo-woo!!!

Hopefully the in-game stuff is nothing too fancy? I was kind of hoping to play the game myself and not set up camp in several streams for the duration of the event for a slight chance of acquiring some swag.

Really excited for some tavern action once again, though! Perhaps this year the glorious tavern brawl music will be added to the Collector’s Edition?

A Quiet Drink! Yes! The masterpiece of Vermintide! Cannot wait.

Man it’s ready I promise! I have my own little Hedge branch I can now upload the collector’s edition content to myself! prettty cooool. I just need QA to sign off and ship it and it’s been, somewhat fairly, underprioritised. Soon buddy, soon™.

Amazing news! Thank you

The problem with this statement is you ARE NOT the only dev who deals with multiple versions of a game but YOUR ARE the dev with excuses, low content, large staff, no road map, bad communication, and now negative community. Look at a game like deep rock. Smaller team with a steam, xbox, and windows version. Puts out 3x the content, has crossplay, has road map, communication, and a supportive community. Did I mention they are a smaller studio! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Fair thoughts.

But please stop comparing games, its cringy

I’d love to see the pub crawl come back to console sometime. Maybe for our anniversary?

Also, I made a thread about it, but I wanted to reiterate that I’d like to see the Skulls for the Skull Throne event finally come to console this year. We missed the first two, but I’d love to finally experience it and get the Khorne frames.

I’m shipping off to join the US Army next week, so I won’t be able to play this game anymore or see the update. But it’s been a good run and I hope this game keeps getting supported like it’s been. Even if things don’t always end up how people want, it’s clear Fatshark cares and if possible will adjust accordingly.

Also, I love the idea of stream partnerships. I don’t watch livestreams myself, but it’s basically just more marketing and gets more of the community involved in the game as a whole which is always a good thing.

So there’s going to be exclusive in game items for watching a stream? Could you please elaborate on this part of the post, it’s way too vague.

They will be items available to players already, think cosmetic DLCs.

Thanks for clarifying. :hugs:

How is it possible that they dont have time to literally upload some mp3 files …

I’ve already uploaded them, but the release process requires QA to absolutely triple check my work on that. Else we release it, find out I accidentally put my own amazing EDM MP3s in the folder and released it to you all. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nobody wants to hear @Fatshark_Hedge 's mixtape. Sorry bro.
