Penances
Bringing the reliquaries into the sanctuary to the terminal acknowledges an amount that is supposedly gained from that, but the overall number tracker of tech remnants does not change. And it does not appear at the end mission summary either. Is it tracking for the overall number needed (in the background) for the penance to 250K?

You do get the remnants, they just handle it in a goofy way. If you notice the score updates while the player is holding the rod, because otherwise you wouldn’t be able to finish a round with one in the Valkyrie and get credit. So when you turn it in at the sanctuary the number doesn’t change, you just get that score permanently and no one has to carry it around anymore.
The remnants we 100% get robbed on are from bosses. The ones that spawn and hunt you down, instead of being optional engagements, drop nothing.
Yeah, I investigated and found that the number changes the instant the reliquary is picked up. It does make sense, as you say for extraction with a reliquary, otherwise you wouldn’t get credit. Thanks!
