Darktide 101: Creating the Sound of Darktide w/ Jesper Kyd - Dev Blog

There is about a dozen, one guy I know that works on Vintage synths as well as commits mad science upon some is “Look Mum No Computer” and then there is a directory of repair technicians through Roland (one licenced official man I came across they recommended me too worked in a cottage studio near a friends house lol)

Its even more wild if its in real gothic dialect, you know, the germanic-latin language? That would be :exploding_head:

Honestly, I think I would’ve liked that, too! :coffee::grinning:

Hehe, my favourite Jesper Kyd music is the beast men stuff from Vermintide 2!

Horns going BWAAAAA and the drums hammering away. Really gets the blood pumping. You’re a cool guy Mr Kyd :grin: :+1:

Lets dance the apocalypse!

Always a pleasure to read these articles, even better when we are speaking about the legendary Jesper Kyd.

Awesome to get a glimpse of the work behind the soundtrack!

I can also absolutely agree on that part:

There is something really God-like about those instruments, where the choir gives you this feeling like you’re now dealing with the Emperor. And the organ kind of goes in that same direction. It feels like it would be the Imperium’s kind of instrument.

The Imperial motive is perfectly on spot with the Theo-Techno-Auto-cratic vibe of the Empire. The organs and choirs remind me the church music and the mix of industrial sounds, sirens and more “electric” just nail it. Frankly, those tracks are my favourites!

Darktide is also the first game in my many years of gaming where I purchased the soundtrack just to listen to it.

So well done and keep up the good work!

I think he needs to go giga on the organs next :grin: Love the organ stuff so much. I want grimdark koyaanasqatsi!

I’d also love to hear about his influences on the hourglass stuff, assuming he made those too. They’re so good and some of the chimes and bells remind me of the temple areas in the SNES Secret of Mana. Totally awesome as I always loved that music.
