Cosmetics memory leak / performance bug

Issue Type (Required):

Character Customisation

Issue Description (Required):

Sometimes when booting up Darktide / loading into the Morningstar, my game runs terribly. Normally I would restart my game, but I found that changing my cosmetic and swapping back fixes my performance.

I went from 80fps in the Morning star to 120fps just from swapping around a helmet.

Steps to Reproduce (Required):

  1. Play the game / boot up the game / sit in the Morningstar
  2. Performance drops heavily
  3. Change my helmet off and back on

[PC] Do You Use Mods? (Optional):

Yes, and I’ve tried disabling them

Reproduction Rate (Required):

Often (<75%)

Platform (Required):

PC - Steam

Can second this, started happening today out of nowhere

Hey Vizra, I’m moving this to Technical Support. Has this been a consistent issue for you since?

This does still happen, though has been happening less frequently since patch 1.10.6.

Hmmm, interesting! The next time this happens, would you be able to share the corresponding console log with us? :folded_hands:

  1. Press the Windows key + R
  2. Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
  3. Navigate to AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Darktide\console_logs
  4. Locate the console log that corresponds with the session in which the issue occurred, by looking at the timestamps in the log names

I’m having a similar issue that could be related to this. Whenever I load into the Morningstar after finishing a mission, I experience a noticeable low poly rendering glitch on my character model + cosmetics. It also can only be fixed by changing my cosmetics by equipping something else and re-equipping, but comes back if I play another mission and load back into the hub. 100% repeatable for me.

Appreciate the information!
