Community Update #5: Week 2

Clearly you haven’t. Or you would also be addressing the timers on cosmetics who’s only purpose is to instill fomo. Praise where praise is due though. I’m glad you are at least giving the players a better bundle option.

So crafting will come step by step, like an early access game.

Amazing.

and also the timer on just gear and weapons in general. The gear shop is not fun

Only one perk on an item can be replaced? Can’t say I like that. It sounds like the system is deliberately limited so that RNG can screw you out of the perfect item in a thousand different ways even with the crafting system.

Getting a perfect curio will basically be impossible for anyone who doesn’t put thousands of hours into this game, and a weapon with amazing rolls can be ruined if it comes with two worthless or low rolled perks. I really hate this kind of RNG stuff that doesn’t respect your time investment by making rewards totally random, especially in a game like this where you’re not picking up dozens of items with every run.

This kind of stuff is exactly the reason why I’ve given up on a lot of games, because you hit that point where you realize that getting anything better than what you have is like winning the lottery. There is no clear path to it, there is no slow and steady approach, there is just keep playing with no guarantee that you will ever get what you want.

Oh yeah. We definitely need better gear acquisition. The only reason it’s RNG is to inflate play time and keep you coming back to check. It’s hella toxic.

Hedge said that weapon crafting from scratch won’t fit the lore though (which is just straight up not true, and a lame excuse), so I’m not sure how they’ll fix that

Same exact system as The Division.

Just another game as a service trick to try and keep you in game.

Pretty much seems like a lot of the design choices are to punish minmaxing, making it more difficult or trying to extend the life cycle of the skinnerbox by making it take forever to roll the talents you want.

The other thing to bear in mind with this system is as soon as they nerf/rebalance traits then your amazing thunderhammer that you put the resources from hours and hours worth of gameplay into can effectively become useless.

While I can see why they are doing it I think the whole communication style of acting like we are too daft to understand deeper design decisions and have honest conversations about them is getting really tiresome. If you can tell me that the aim of this system is to extend the gameplay loop then that’s fine. I might not like it or be a fan of the direction it’s headed, but at least I then know it’s not for me.

They won’t fix it

the entire crafting system just needs to be Athanor from Winds of magic. It’s been suggested for years for VT2, players loved it and it gave you a real sense of progression through gameplay while allowing you to tailor a weapon to your needs while also not screwing you over if you wanted to experiment with different properties/traits and get attached to a weapon and would fit perfectly into Darktide. This is just disheartening to see how bad systems from VT2 are somehow finding their way into DT and being made even worse

Wtf?? No scoreboard news?

Yeah probably not

Yea, The Division is one of the games I just walked away from because they screwed you out of crafting good gear without god rolled items to start with.

Outriders is another game I just gave up on after some point, because it’s just not fun when you’re getting maybe one or two items a day that are the right item, but then there is are like 300 different feats that can roll on them that aren’t what you wanted.

Like, seriously? If you’re not confident that I’ll keep playing your game once I get my perfect item set what makes you think I’ll play it for years just for a ridiculously small chance to find my perfect item set?

I joined the thousands who power this game up 10 minutes prior to the shop updating so I be quickly disappointed by the inventories and power off. I might cue up for a Heresy game if there’s one without broken enemy spawning.

Speaking of, is Heresy still intended to have far greater enemy compositions than Damnation at all times? It is very clearly not a UI bug…

The release date Fatshark chose for DT was a rough estimation, not an approximate one
If it wasn’t for the recent dramas with delayed titles, they should have gone for a third delay when they could

I feel terribly sorry for the CMs who have to be on the front lines of this

tired

I was gonna try to write up something that would express my discontent in a less negative tone and try to make some suggestions i felt would be positive, but my enthusiasm for this game and its developer is quickly dwindling, and i cant be bothered to put in the effort anymore.

Hoping to see some improvements in the gear acquisition system to reinforce the gameplay feedback loop outside of the store which feels more like a supplemental system (would be nice to feel rewarded for harder content and just completing the gameplay loop in general outside of the rng maybe you get one item currently in place). The current system of reward for gameplay feels very disconnected for me personally.

Glad some new weapons are making their way in and I am hopeful that adding some more perks into the weapon classes will help continue to foster build variety, flavor, and identity for weapons in game. Same with Curios.

But hard to tell what is needed until after the full crafting system is in place (outside of the gameplay-feedback loop)

Thanks for the update

I’m only just now realizing how very bad the proposed “refine item” will be when it comes to trinkets. You can reroll ONE of the perks? How many trinkets does Fatshark want me to throw away?

You can tell the game was built with passion due to the basic gameplay, art and music and it almost feels like you can tell at what moment Tencent came in and fvcked it all up and the employees having to gobble it all up because they dont really have anywhere else to go.

Everything that isnt gameplay related is straight up Mobile Game crap.

This is nice… but what about getting the environments together vs. separate Steam PC and Xbox PC?! Friends who bought the game can’t play w/ the people who bought the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to get on PC.

I get there are a lot of things being asked but the core is playing together vs. sandboxed areas.

Yeah. With the vague promise of a solo & private lobby system coming “soon”, now my biggest concern is the gear progression system

As you mentioned, the store is not fun and is not very rewarding

In V2, you were rewarded immediately upon completing a mission and it was not barred behind an outside-gameplay timer

That would be an immediate improvement over what we have now
