Hi,
My feedback come from a true solo pov in cata, i say that because in 4 player that is not that much of a problem even if annoying but in true solo they are just…
Push are useless it seem, only after many many many heavy they’re guard fall down but my problem i think is : they are immune to EVERYTHING ffs.
Good luck trying to find an opening when you have a monster on your ass with multiple other things, even just a monster with 2 chaos shield good luck to kill them if you don’t have the flail.
You can’t ulti them like the one of the footknight who can make fall chaos warrior for create an opening, you can use nothing beside waiting for a very little opening when they attack and not try to push you like most of the time. Even the monster do nothing on them and when he give you a little time to try to break the guard it’s take to much time it’s never enough. At the end when i overcome the “challenge” 99% the last alive is always them just because i have no way to deal dmg.
So yeah i think at one moment i will consider taking the mod that just remove them because the fun is suck out of my mind the more i fight them in true solo. they are just pain in the ass if i can say.
At least they should not have been immune to ultimate for have a chance to create better opening, like the witch hunter one or mercenary for exemple so if use it at the right moment i can try to kill them.
I know the game is not balance around true solo but common, they can be annoying enough and do they’re job even if you delete this immunity so pls think about it fatshark.
they’re honestly a questionable add considering SV with shield spams were already an issue on certain maps. I haven’t tried it with my dot flail build on WHC (which is my usual go-to when im to expect a map that spams SV shields). So it’s prolly going to turn into a case where you’re mainly pidgeon-holed into bringing a certain class. That being said, even scoring headshots on them doesn’t seem to do anything really especially with their shield. It might be time for Fatshark to consider a few things:
A. Fix the directional block on SV and CW w/ shields. There’s a bug that allows them to just spin 360 degrees in a split second to block your attack.
B. Potentially think about lowering the block radius of the shields to only being their front and not their sides as well (it never made sense to me that i couldn’t slip my knife into your kidneys, there’s a seperation in there plates there you can see it)
C. Think about adding shield breaking to elite units, We can break the shields of the more common chaff, but there should also be a way to “de-shield” CW’s and SV’s. Obviously it shouldn’t be as easy as “shoot an arrow at it and byebye shield”. Maybe it should crumble after taking so many heavy strikes? Perhaps we could chip pieces off of it and make it easier to score headshots?
It kinda comes down to the directionality the shields can block, and what WE as a the players can actually do about that. The current meta is to bring at least 1 weapon you know can bypass a shield well (i know that seems obvious, but with the amount of shield spam they’ve been throwing at us this has become more pertinent than ever) since elite’s w/ shields are rarely ever outflanked (unless you’re playing something that can move through units like shade) and they can now block most strikes and shots from the front (even SV w/ shield i’ve noticed have been blocking more arrows and bolts even when they’re focused on someone else, it seems they just laser focus in on ranged projectiles now).
The next thing is the use of the environment. Currently as it stands (or potentially falls in this scenario), it’s just common player knowledge to stay away from ledges. You don’t really ever want to play near a ledge if you can avoid it in case there’s a monster spawn or a random shove from an elite. The issue comes is that the environment is mainly something the enemy uses against you when it comes to pitfalls (funneling comes down to good game knowledge and positioning but that’s not really what im referring to here). There’s no way for you to reliably stumble an elite w/ shield outside of a good headshot with a heavy weapon or a projectile of some sort (which i’ve already explained they seem to just KNOW where the shots come from). There NEEDS to be a way to stumble an elite with a shield now with the introduction of CW w/ shields being regular additions. Perhaps leg damage? I mentioned shield breaking earlier (perhaps gunpowder weapons could do this). But there NEEDS to be some way to stumble them without having to just “bring this class”.
Im sure there’s more things i could touch on but this has rambled long enough. And im certain people are gonna try and point out a lot of “what if’s”. I’m speaking very generally here, not really referring to any specific situation you might find yourself in.
