Oh for sure. When I say non-elite, I mean specials.
Special targets it should one-shot maybe with the exception of the mutant.
Maulers, crushers, bulwarks, reapers, and ragers are arguably in need of 2 or 3.
I guess i envision brain burst being that “f-you sniper” ability. If it could target anything tagged by your allies, even through walls I would love that; even if damage was untouched.
Yeah… sometimes when psyker targets elite/special within my melee range, I just push/bash it with PS/ Bolter.
But sometimes… well I get kinda Orky. I’m sorry.
-Glowy thing! DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA!!!
Would keeping everything the same like charge and damage but making it a big aoe knock down explosion help balance.
You got lighting that stun locks entire rooms and assailed that can quickly cut down whole hordes of small guys.
Make BB high single target damage as it is but also do a medium to low damage explosion around the size of a rumbler shell or trauma force staff explosion.
One, you’d have to be insane to take empowered psionics over, say, warp charges when running Trauma, for instance.
Two, I have BB in my Trauma build mostly because I kind of have to (because the talent tree is bad), and I never use it.
It is literally 100% faster and safer to simply kill a bomber or sniper or whatever with the staff M1, than to swap to BB and spend 284 years to channel a weakling attack that barely does damage. If it’s something more significant than a sniper or a bomber? Guess what, if it’s any danger at all, it’s in a huge group and/or mixed, and Trauma is an infinitely better option. BB literally has no use. At all.
the psyker head pop is for picking off idle specials/elites without engaging them and doing large amounts of damage to enemies that are currently otherwise engaged (attacking someone else, distracted) without having to go over there. it is ironically a power that gets much worse the more your team rushes and with a lot of players apparently unable to stop moving it looks like crap to them.
the community’s a joke, if you stay together and move at a comfortable walk the whole mission generally goes very cleanly even on damnation, because the AI director spawns less dumb crap at bad times.
This is what people seem to be missing in all of these threads. 2 charge telekine shield and kinetic resonance plus empowered charges make for powerful, fast BBs. Still can’t melt a monstrosity fast enough, but you generally regain charges as fast as you use them.
Unfortunately it’s one of the only good BB builds. Actually, unless you throw down a shield, BB sucks unless empowered. Base speed buff with slight resonance nerf is in order
What about the regain a charge when you kill an elite node. Works out well unless you are against a monstrosity. Can endlessly kill ragers and gunners.
IMHO the inherent problem with BB is that it is plainly boring.
I said it already in closed beta: chaining BB feels like a digging dirt in Minecraft.
I have no solution for that, but I would prefer something more impactful. F.e. finger snip causing enemy to catch soulfire or his head explode.
It has its uses, especially if you specc towards it (latch on special, hide from LoS, wait, rinse and repeat), but man, is that tedious.
Yeah, the 2 specific enemies that get you a teorethically infinite EP, as long as nobody gets the kill before you’re able to finish charging BB even with 100%+ cast time reduction, or you accidentally target anything that’s not those 2 enemy types.
I don’t even know why specialists are not considered elites, but that’s it.
i too struggle to find good utility with brain burst. i dont know much regarding the damage or charge time, since ive used it so rarely, because whenever ive tried some wimpy trash zombie runs in front and eats the burst. some option to disable bb targetting melee trash boys would be an instant plus - why would i bb the little guys instead of stabbing or shooting them?
