Yeah, but then again when it’s mixed with soulblaze focused talents it would apply SB stacks faster.
It will be hard to level both BB and SB application at the same time.

I understand. When I use Assail I limit my spam to 5-6 at a time unless I really need to use all 10.
You know what does the same thing but also staggers multiple enemies and not just one? Any staff.
I think it’d be cool if the right click pre-charge version of BB would instead give you a buff that would persist until you used it… so like you could charge a BB, swap weapons, do other stuff, then release a single instant BB.
If we’re talking about even spending all the points and going down the otherwise 100% useless keystone just to make it better, then BB should be doing amazing, fantastical things.
As it is, you can safely, and far more quickly dispatch those threats by whipping out a revolver. You can even do that mid-melee, when surrounded, in complete safety because of how fast it is.
BB is agonizingly slow and cumbersome.
There are caps in the game. Soulblaze from elite killing and from Trauma blaze for instance, never reach useful levels - no matter how many times it is applied.
Regardless, there are way quicker ways to kill a whole bunch of elites than using BB, no matter how fast it becomes.
So that’s why my Soulburner build does not work WELL on Damnation… shame.

Unfortunately, yes. While the purgatus exists in the game, and uses the same soulblaze as other abilities, soulblaze can never be made useful - or it would make purgatus OP.
How? When? A gunpsyker build or something? Because no one using any staff would think BB had any stagger utility whatsoever. The ability to kill things from cover is of extremely limited value in 5++ where you’re always surrounded anyway, and people can kill things way, WAY faster with any quickswap weapon.
If you have time to bring out the BB, you would have time to kill said enemy in a million other ways, more effectively.

My point is BB should not be a one size fits all tool. Having a weakness to build around and prepare for is fine. Its good at killing mobile specialists. Have 1 shot humanoid elites, and 2 shot Ogryns. Its still good against Ogryns, but if you run into a pack you can have your team help you. Because its supposed to be a team event killing a huge Ogryn pack.

So I use the purg staff with BB and shield. I have configured all possible skill points so that BB runs best and fastest. But in many situations BB is far too slow when charging. The damage is okay. If the charging time is increased by 25% I think it would be perfect.

All I’m trying to say is that BB is part of your overall kit - and like any other build you don’t expect this one part of your kit to be able to do everything. Reducing the cast time, especially in light of the cast time reduction on ult and with the keystone would make it near instant. It already doesn’t cost peril when you’ve stacked it the right way. Giving it even more damage alongside a faster cast time would just make it a ridiculously overpowered do-all weapon - like Assail was before it got fixed/nerfed.
BB with Kinetic Resonance + Empowered Psionics
Damage is +50%
Cast time is reduced by 75% and again by 50%
Peril cost is reduced by 100%
Also each time you use it gives you AND ALLIES in coherency +15% toughness
Take the ability cool down aura, Psykentic aura (5% reduction in cooldown on elite/special kill)
You can 2-shot crushes in less than 1-second and kill it, applying and spreading wildfire and feeding into your cooldown reduction. By the time 10-15 seconds have passed you’re combat ability can be regenerated and you can repeat the cycle. It’s amazing. I don’t know what you all are on.
Why are you using it to bother killing non-elite/special targets? What’s what you other weapons are for!
I only use it to kill elites and specialists, but in many situations the recharge time is so long that I think an increase of 25% in the recharge time makes a lot of sense. There are some YouTubers whose names I won’t mention who think the same way. If you play the purg staff with BB and shield you will notice that BB needs to be reworked. The damage from BB is perfect as it is but the recharge time needs a slight increase. It’s just my opinion.
Nobody is, but there’s nothing BB does that can’t be done better with any other tool.
The one thing it can do is take our a sniper too far away to hit when you don’t have time to take aim.

The way Brain Burst should work is like Exequy spell in Dragon’s Dogma. That spell basically keeps channeling for as long as it takes to build up enough power to eliminate all remaining HP on the target in one hit. So the cast time and mana cost is variable, but the result is always death. You can’t usually outright kill bosses from 100% with it because you’ll run out of mana before it has built up enough power to execute them.
Kinetic Flayer is just bad IMO. It’s too difficult to get it to trigger on a target where it’s actually useful. Most of the time it will just go off on a random trash mob and then be on cooldown when you need it.
It depends on the rest of your kit. If you’re running Purgatus, (and to a lesser extent Surge or Trauma) BB is a great long range compliment to your kit to deal with persnickety elites and specials at range. It’s got the utility to be able to target something and then move yourself out of the line of fire kill the target. These are great perks.
If you’re running gun psyker with a revolver then no, you probably don’t get much advantage for using BB and it makes sense to take a different blitz. This kind of logic is no different from other builds and classes where certain combinations of weapons and abilities make sense to use together.
Sure, go ahead and ask for BB buffs. That’s fine. I just don’t get what buffing it will do or open up build wise, because it seems like the same arguements for why it’s weak would still apply post buff.
You simply don’t use BB with purgatus… you pick Assail.
This is dumb… There’s not just damage as a way to fix it.
Just the fact that eveybody asks for speed over damage should make you understand that usability is the worst offender of this skill.
I agree. I’ve felt that way since the beginning. Brain bursting things just takes too long, when you could more or less just headshot them faster with a gun. Psykers often used to joke that the best way to kill something was to brain burst it, so the Veteran would immediately focus fire it lol.
I feel like the less health a target has, the faster the brain burst should go. So it should be pretty quick to kill a bomber or sniper, but obviously take longer for things like maulers and crushers. On the other hand, if your brain burst target is being shot, your brain burst should go faster as it loses more health. That way you don’t spend time charging up to kill something only to have wasted your time.
Alternatively, keep the current charge time, but make it so it kills everything that isn’t a boss or ogryn. Its frustrating to charge for a while only to have the rager, mutant, etc, survive and keep doing its business. Brain burst takes ages and is way slower than headshotting things with a gun, so it should deal respectable damage. I don’t know about you but I’d probably die if my brain exploded lol.
