In Blood in the Darkness, if someone dies in the courtyard where you have to rescue the few captives still alive, then they will respawn behind the locked door you have to open. This means you can only rescue them after rescuing all captives but, more importantly, also means you have to kill the boss before respawning your allies because having a boss there creates a boss wall that forbids you from opening the respawn area.
