Bleed Stacks

So Dark Souls bleed instead of a DoT? That would definitely differentiate it from burn apart from being worse in every way.

It ticks… and if you crit a bleeding target, it deals a good chunk of bonus damage based on bleed stacks

So it does damage on time interval, but also adds extra damage on critical hit?

he meant damage, not tick

“… just increase the damage each bleed proc does and they end at the same time” would be the better way to phrase it.

Yes to the crit build zealots most of all

tick is the interval, process or “proc” is the initiator of the damage done per tick

I see, thanks for the clarification.

Here’s the dev explaining bleed 1.0.7 Update - Expanded Patch Notes (Balance & Tweaks) - #35 by Ratherdone

Bleed has not been adjusted except to no longer trigger through blocked attacks.

But, yeah, it’s fairly linear and weak. Tried making it work, but it’s honestly just there to trigger bleed feats (here’s hoping bleed feats get combined and free up space for better feats eventually).

Lets say you have 10 bleed stacks wchich will tick for 1000 damage over 10 seconds.
You crit, you deal 50% of that amount instantly (500), the remaining 500 damage is still spread oover the 10 seconds while the bleed count is lowered by 50%

If 200dmg have already ticked, then you deal (1000-200) /2=400, etc.

Would of course need number tweaking, but bleed right now is more a meme than anything else unless you are using fragstorm.

THANK YOU!

So, I made some quick back-of-the-envelope calculations:

Based on these guesstimates, it looks like 10 stacks of bleed will do:

  • 240 damage to unarmored
  • 120 damage to flak
  • 24 damage to carapace

We’d need to know the real factors to get accurate results.

Over how long?
It’s nice and all, but usually stuff dies before bleed has even dealt a 5th of it’s total damage.

Any feat that adds “one stack of bleed” is a massive joke and should not be used for the sake of said bleed hahaha

According to the information given to me, the breakdown of percentage of the total damage dealt by 10 bleed stacks over time (regardless of armor type) goes like this:

1s 13%
2s 26%
3s 38%
4s 48%
5s 57%
6s 65%
7s 72%
8s 78%
9s 82%
10s 87%
11s 90%
12s 94%
13s 96%
14s 98%
15s 100%

So half of it is dealt in the first 5 seconds, and the other half over the following 10 seconds.

Well, I just tested my Chainsword with the blessing that adds 10 bleed stacks.
I have observed that it takes ~7 seconds for 10 bleed stacks to expire.
That duration is not coherent with the information given by the developer. Therefore I must assume it has changed since.
So far, I’ve been studying a few variations, such as assuming that a stack would expire after 2 ticks instead of 3, but haven’t found any permutation that matches the observation. :frowning:
