What would you think if we had armor system like the enemies have now to mitigate hits to health/toughness.
I would really like to have this system to allow us to have more tools to mitigate damage and allow us more options for customization. Skins could be applied to individual parts just like they are equipped now. I know it would be hard to balance and the game is lacking in maps, weapons and content but i would like to think about this option.
I know this is wishful thinking but still I hope that it would be possible to consider it?
Armour should be cosmetic only, because then it adds a pay to win element since a new player could just buy a skin and instantly be at an advantage, and then it means if your favourite armour pieces have bad stats you would be gimping yourself.
Yeah I mean a system that is not influenced by the MTX but similarly as the weapons works.
Obviously I hate the MTX as everyone else also FOMO and want them to remove that garbage.
However if this would be implimented armors would be buyable with the coins in game.
Armor could have MTX skins that would be applied separately, to the armor itself.
I get what you’re saying and it would be more like destiny 2 system, but realistically we should get enough health/toughness/resistance from out talent tree and curios.
As it happens, I’ve actually played a system like this in one of Fatshark’s previous games, War(s) of the Roses. In that game, a PvP one, it kind of worked in a way, as you didn’t have huge numbers of players and could instantly tell a plate armour wearing guy was going to be invincible to your sword - more or less - but if you could get an arrow or your weapon into the slit of the visor then …
But that was a different setup entirely. I don’t think it would translate well to situations in Darktide where you can have dozens and dozens of enemies are hacking at our character’s bodies, which would be a lot of information for the servers to track and send back and forth to our computers. Plus it did lead to moments where your natural reaction to getting taken out was “how did that find a gap in the plate?! What the hell?!” and that was whilst wearing full plate in that game from head to toe; imagine what it would be like with arms, legs, abdomen etc unprotected as we have at the moment. It would be a nightmare.
Yeah, likely it would be too much for the server to handle. BUT it would be cool to have the enemy impacts have some effect perhaps based on cosmetics.
Now enemies walk through the players. And seem to have no ”physical persona” thus hitting ”air” perhaps something could be done so that the enemies would not walk through. This especially a problem for the ogryn whose size allows multiple enemies to walk through him.
I’m not really feeling an armor system. I think the cosmetic system is more important. What happens when the armor I want doesn’t look like what I want to look like? Or one type of armor is just objectively better than all of the others and everyone picks it.
I would prefer a more robust equipment system. Rather than 3 cheerios, I would like actual equipment that do things, and have perks and blessings.
Like an ammo pouch, that increases the ammo we can carry by 25%. That is also blessed to give us 2 stamina, and has some perks too. Or some sort of holster/strap/whatever that lets you switch weapons a little faster. Comfy footwear that improves your sprint efficiency. Maybe a flashlight.
I would not go this route, I think it would over complicate things and likely cause pacing issues. Trying to coordinate someone standing still for a few seconds for another to grab ammo seems like a source of issue.
