All hail purga

Hail Purga, the undefeated.

Make it clap.

(Pasted my comment from the dev blog here since it also applies)

The way I see it is this: Inferno Staff worked with Uncanny Strike blessing and melted hordes as a result. Uncanny Strike is now nerfed so the Flame Staff won’t be so good against armor, when stacking with this blessing, now.

I think, these changes will either make the Flame Staff feel weaker towards armor or feel exactly the same.

Just slap on Penetrating Flame on your staff and everyone can keep facerolling on their keyboard, even easier than before probably

Edit: actually it’s still much less abusable than with the previous Ucanny Strikes shenanigans, the dps increase will be noticeable but not as crazy as before

It is damage control buff to keep certain AI fueled group from review bombing the game. They need it otherwise they won’t be able to beat h40 effortlessly.

steam kind of fixed the problem you speak of by putting this on the front of the storepage
Steam Reviews
developers have less reason to bend to this specific brand of attempted bullying thanks to this little change

Wow, I’m so happy to see this after slay the spire 2 incident.

lol i just checked that store page

really makes you think

Just tested the changes to Inferno Staff. Starting from 0% Peril and just spamming attacks at the Crusher and Venting when at 100% peril off CD, the new changes doubled the DPS vs Crushers.

It’s still relatively slow, i.e. from mid 80 DPS to about 160 DPS. But it’s quite noticeable.

I’m out of the loop, but my boyfriend’s been playing that a lot recently.

He’s out being busy right now, so do you mind giving me the scoop?

Just see screenshots from eatingsand above. Game got review bombed because some easy cheese (infinite combos) got nerfed. Game is still in early access so it’s the best time to get rid of the obvious balance outliers, but the playerbase shown in the screenshot really liked having free wins.

Replacing Warp Nexus with Penetrating Flames and +5% Crit with +25 Carapace, the best DPS I’ve gotten is 340. Adding Penetration of the Soul to the same build I’m at 400 DPS.

Best times I can get on the current live patch is 240 and 350 DPS respectively. So definitely a buff to this loadout.

EDIT: Also in a real game all these DPS values would be higher because you’re able to proc Perilous on other enemies, you’re generally not starting at 0% peril, no Warp Battery charges, etc. etc..

How are you testing the new patch? It’s out next week.

Mod in the new values which lets you test in Psykhanium/Solo.

Very interesting. Do you think you could take a short clip of both versions to compare how long a crusher will die to the inferno staff and shriek? probably the +5% crit with +25% carapace but no penetration of the soul version. That has the biggest and most noticeable difference.

Bottom is live patch

They didn’t touch flak or maniac adm so lmao my darktide vacation continues.

Thanks for doing that. Looks like we don’t have to worry about purgatus becoming op vs crushers just yet. Doubling a tiny number still gives a small number.

i mean if you consider that you can do this to a ton of crushers at once, on top of every other target in the horde, and that Perilous Combustion will speed this up even further, i definitely think this compensation buff is a bad idea. Soulblaze and Inferno already needed nerfs even without uncanny strike or rending abuse.

Also with Uncanny being brittleness now, your teammates fighting crushers are boosting your damage as well. It’s an interesting choice FS is making here imo.
