Smite remain a CC tool.
It can still be a CC tool with the above changes, and arguably a much more versatile utility than it is right now. It’s not as if this is a new idea, Smite in it’s current form is far too spammable to be of the utilitarian value that it could be if Secondary fire was adjusted and that has been the case for a long time. But, it’s possible it could get adjusted with future Psyker reworks🤷♂️
I want to make it clear that I’m not blaming people who enjoy playing smykers. I’m a lifelong fan of utility & support builds and prior to Darktide basically always mained them when possible.
But I find myself at an impasse. Almost every single match lately has had a smyker. I play T5 Aurics / Maelstroms exclusively and outside of the nurgle blessing it literally renders the entire game into nothing but an afk shooting gallery. It’s boring as heck. Once in a while, I can take it that’s fine. Bu…
Just like the title says smite most definitely needs reworked and im totally whole heartedly sick and tired of what feels like every 3-5 games were all forced to play with someone who only has cc and a bubble. I just got back on darktide after not playing for hours, first IIIVEG I join and we have a bubble perma smite psyker who proceeds to smite and only smite for like 5 minutes straight and I just left the game. Also what is it with these perma smite psykers and smiting everything that moves w…
Been awhile.
Full disclosure: I forgot smite was a problem until last night I just wanted to relax with fun-maxed builds and noticed a bubble-smyker in every game last night and ended with a very entertaining monstrous specials pox gas and snipers nightmare maelstrom run and landed in a game with 3 smykers that were just… trying real hard to smite a beast of nurgle. I was rooting for them, but it was never meant to be.
Smite is still a not-okay blitz. It’s not just a crutch, it is the mobility…

Why do we hate smite?
This is a common question I see. Smite is a powerful tool the game gives you, after all, so why do some people discourage it? If it makes the game “too easy”, why not go play Havoc 40 instead and leave well enough alone? I can think of a few reasons why:
It’s often used when it’s not necessary. If your Zealot is frontlining trash mobs and not taking any damage from it, they don’t need the help smiting that horde of mobs would…
Make Smite’s charged attacks have limited uses (like Ogryn’s Big Friendly Rock) and then rework Smite’s uncharged attack to be an insta-stun against a singular enemy with the typical unlimited uses. Charged attacks would end when the Smyker either stops the flow of their Smite manually or reaches critical Peril. Let’s say (for example) that it has 2 charged uses with a 60-second cooldown per replenishment, taking a total of 120 seconds to fully replenish them both.
That way, Smykers could use …
