What is the most impressive end-game Portrait, Insignia & Title in your opinion?

Insignia wise I’d say the secret mode Karnak one is the hardest to get, as it is the unlikeliest be gotten ‘passively’ by being carried.
While the twins in hard mode can be clutched, you’d need at least 2 very good players, even then it isn’t guaranteed.
It’s still the map/fight that reveals lack of individual mechanical skill the most imo. All auric insignias are pretty casual or can be done by playing heresy auric missions as well. So they aren’t worth much in comparison.

Portrait wise there’s nothing. When the game was a few days old it was the damnation frame. But as time went on it became worthless. I’d love a solo do 90% damage against a daemon host on auric maelstrom frame, but I doubt we’ll be getting anything like that soon.

Yes, I agree that the Twins Hard Mode is the most impressive to get for sure. Very few frames are impressive anymore that they nerfed a ton of them. IMO, the only frame that’s mildly impressive is the one I have on because you have to actually clutch to get in on higher difficulties if not cheesed that is…

If I remember correctly that frame counts rezes on any difficulty. I used to rock it as well, but the fact that it can be gotten automatically by playing enough, even on malice or lower kinda devalues it.

I honestly don’t think of any of them as “impressive”. None of them are based on any accomplishments that measured anything really. But I mean that’s normal for most other games too. Titles & achievements are practically always earned with time, luck, or in the case of actual challenges through friends & connections. Not personal accomplishments, skills or ability.

So the most “impressive” for me really is just a matter of what looks good or something personal, something that speaks to what you like.

For me those are:

  • Anything purple
    • I love purple
  • The psyker portraits etc. stuff
    • On other classes to show I main psykers
  • The Archivum Sage title
    • I’m a geek, love reading & learning, and I’ve spent a ton of time digging into the details of Darktide
    • It fits the psyker theme

Is it me, or over abundance of frames made it quite hard to remember which are “good” or “bad”?
In Vermintide I had no problem with recognition of this distinction.

I base my frame and insignia on my character’s look. I don’t use a title.

The ones that suits my characters - stupid/ugly ones for Ogryn + most basic medal, golden/ornament ones for my Zealot female and sleek/military ones for my Veteran. Don’t care about psykers, I don’t like them.

As for title, I like my ASS title becasue it took me too many deaths at 4/5 to not be happy of finally getting it playing with PUBs on Auric Maelstorm and wanting to eat my mouse from frustration sometimes. Don’t really care if other people cheesed it or not. TItle is for me.

Considering they nerfed half the frames and halved the requirements, I don’t consider any frame as “good” anymore. If I see someone with the green frame or skull frame I am aware they at least have some experience. I wish they would release some frames that have ACTUAL meaning tied to it. An Auric Maelstrom Survivor type frame but one that CAN’T BE CHEESED.

ogryn be reject with 3 golden testicles.

somehow grew third one by beating two funny punies that talked much, made ogryn angry, ogryn smashed.

maybe ogryn smashed so hard popped third testicle, dunno sah.

oh and ogryn been here long time, longer than most punies, so ex-pli-kado gave me doorframe with words on it.

what a “beta”, sah?

but momma says ogryn impressive as long as protec little uns and smash spikey punies.

and momma don’ lie. :muscle:

I use the “Hammer of Traitors” Portrait, the “Humbler of Heretics (2)” Insignia and the “Dedicated Adept” Title. This formula also translates into my Weapons, where I always use the “Aquila’s Head” Trinket and the Level 20 Mastery Cosmetics.

To explain how that’s a “formula”, the Portrait and the Insignia both contribute to the unlocking of the Trinket, while Mastery contributes to the unlocking of the Title. My OCD’s severe, please don’t judge me.

Every character and build has the reject tag. Insignia and portrait are whatever I think aesthetically matches the build.

Imo none of them are very impressive. Whatever the penance one is called, Ministorum Guardian I think? Probably shows the most time investment but idk if I would consider that “impressive.”

I’ll keep rolling this one out in situations like this; at least 'til it’s officially credited to my in game account:

Pretty tired of hearing this honestly.

I completely understand that 1mil kills is an insane amount and if it was halved after I obtained it, I might feel a certain way.

-but-

I am still under 400K kills and I have just over 600 hours play time. Yes it is “easier” (it was never hard to begin with), but it still takes a large amount of dedication. Stop being a hater.

As portrait, i use the default one that is my preferred.
About insigna, i like the ones made by classes

I must admit that I picked the one given after defeating the twins recently

About titles, I use the “explorator” one that describe the most my behavior in game.

Ha, I often do the same. Is it only me who thinks the class icons are hard to read?

I would assume, that “impressive” is judged by difficulty and/or time invested.
In that case, objectively speaking, the most impressive endgame cosmetics would be those:

There are no portrait frames that are awarded for an actually difficult penance (unless i forgot about one). But there are some that are still somewhat hard to get.

  • Original 1 million kills frame: 1mil kills take some time and judging by my teammates’ kills (scoreboard mod), most people probably needed around 3k missions to get there.
500k is not that much (around 1500 matches for average auric player?), and the frame is quite common now. Still takes more time than the other frames.
  • 4700 penance points: takes a lot of effort and means that most penances are finished. Depending on when you started playing, and how much you focus on penance completion, this one might be completed before the 500k kills, or maybe after.

There are two insignias, that actually take some skill.

  • Twins Hardmode: can be carried, but outside of being carried, it is probably the most difficulty piece of content available.
  • Finishing an auric maelstrom mission, without anyone getting downed at all: requires a good team and some personal skill. Afaik, this also only works if you have been in the party throughout the whole mission.

Regarding titles…

  • ASS: is probably the most difficult one to get (legitimately). It can be (or could be) quit-scummed, but i think you only get progress if you actually complete a mission from start to finish. So even when cheesed, it still takes a small amount of skill. Other titles require even less skill, than scummed ASS does.

It’s just that they’re all really busy with lots of little details. All of the portrait frames from launch with a few exceptions were really busy and cluttered and they all used the same color schemes (gold/bronze/steel/parchment/red) and a lot of the later ones became more distinct as they ‘built up’ in detail. At launch the ‘legendary’ and ‘rare’ portrait frames were very visually distinct, at least.

VT2 sort of has the same issue now where there’s so many portraits and a lot of them are FOMO, so they’re unrecognizable to anyone that doesn’t really play the game. They still look cool and animated ones are always fun to get.

Darktide’s issue currently is that nothing is ‘hard to get’ or ‘time limited’ which I’m always mixed on. All of the ‘legendary’ stuff is mostly just consecutive completion which, as people pointed out, isn’t hard to do when leaving missions doesn’t reset the counter.

And again, because the vast majority of them all look the same and reuse the same details, so you don’t get that ‘wow’ factor that you did in VT2.

It sucks because portrait collecting in VT2 is actually fun. In Darktide the penance grind is boring.

It doesn’t devalue it if you got it through harder modes, but all-in-all it can be obtained slightly easy. Hard when you get it the way I got it though.

Good old V2 days. Best frame for me and will be.
