What if Great Swords had Armor Piercing on Light Attacks?

Good point. It also doesn’t help that in Warhammer there are entire units with great swords . . . which in reality were extreme specialist weapons given to specific men within a unit, and even then they were only in use for around a hundred years.

That’s cause WH units are have “little less” people than a company.

More likely it’s that it is a fantasy game that is not realistic, which was my point. Greatsword wielders by themselves just wouldn’t make sense in a real-world scenario, even in the brief period in which they were in vogue.

So what’s the best 1v1 medieval weapon in your opinion, when it comes to armored fight?

I’m guessing from your emoticon you consider yourself knowledgeable on this subject. Watched a lot of youtube videos, I guess?

It’s not really a matter of what my ‘opinion’ on the most suitable weapon for this form of combat; late medieval combatants developed a weapon specially for this role; the pollaxe. It had a spike for thrusting into gaps in armor, along with a hammer and/or axe for delivering stunning blows. Most importantly, it was perfect for the grappling fighting style that medieval armored combat often devolved into in practice, and could be used as a lever to throw armored opponents to the ground, where they were most vulnerable.

Though, I imagine the weapon that was most likely to deliver the killing blow to a fully-armored figure was the dagger.

Ok, I completely agree with you, for the first time it seems.

However all of the above is true only if we’re talking about full-plate 1v1 combat. But in case of armored combat, but not full-plate, like gambeson/chainmail + possibly some plates, what is the best weapon then?

When I said armored, I wanted to emphasize that we’re not talking about street fight, where sword, and later rapier. Especially since you stated this:
