When we see what you can do with the bots (dying), I think that this is (not) a real priority.
Seriously, with bots what difficulty you could select? uprising at max…
Solo mode would have to be accompanied by a bot rework.
The bots would need to be all four classes - not just vet and zealot.
In my opinion there are two valid options:
Preferred: Use the hosts spare characters as bots.
Still cool: Generic bots of all classes based on the trailers.
But yes - even with decent bots I think Damnation should not be possible and Heresy only if you are extremely competent - otherwise there would be no incentive to play online anymore.
Malice should be possible as long as you know, what you are doing.
However - I really would like solo mode. Many players prefer to rush maps which isn’t fun for me - I prefer a slower methodical approach and thus playing on my own tempo would be a lot of fun for me.
Proper bots should have been in the game on release, especially now that the player count has dived super hard and often you will start a match and no one will be on. Last week i literally played half a damnation run with 2 bot teammates because the match maker didn’t give us anyone else.
There are things the bots shouldn’t be able to do like operate machines or even carry power cells / ammo cans but they should be able to at least pick up and carry med/ammo kits (this has been a feature in coop games since left 4 dead), Have a basic follow me command (since payday 2 and probably before it), use their class ability at competent moments (VT 2), and navigate the terrain without constantly getting stuck or falling off ledges (literally left 4 dead had this even on more complex map areas like the bridge at the end of the parish).
There really is not excuse in 2023 to not have competent bots in your 4 player coop game especially when your LAST GAME HAD THESE FEATURES!.
Even as they are right now, I’d use them on Malice.
I’m good enough to solo escort the bots through the map and through most situations. The only thing they have trouble dealing with are Bosses/Monstrosities.
How do I know? Before I quit playing 2 months ago I forced solo mode a few times through vote kicking, to a successful mission completion.
And of course, if Private mode were properly implemented instead of this awful “2-player minimum” requirement, my friends could join in whenever mid mission to guarantee a win. That 2-player minimum requirement for Private is such a bald-faced attempt to increase their numbers for this shitty live-service trash.
Since the end of november no news about it…
Look at this dev post : Warhammer 40,000: Darktide - Community Update #1: Pre-Order Beta Hotfix 1.0.6 - Steam News
They said “We aim to release this at Launch. If not, a patch shortly after that in December.” Haha What a joke guys, more than 3 months and nothing. They really don’t care about what we want. And when you ask about it, it’s radio silence…
Look at his
Perso, I would like to see a solo feature… but not for seeing better bot, but just to train about being better when all teammates have died…
Yes, I know, this is totally sadistic cause you are guarenteed to die at high difficulty levels…
Fast Shark, look at this thread on steam’s forum : Can someone tell me why everybody wants a SoloMode? :: Warhammer 40,000: Darktide The Mourningstar - General Discussions
There is a lot of players who want a solo experience.
This.
It is now April 2023, and the Solo and Private modes the game was sold on to be implemented no later than December 2022 are still missing.
The Private mode that was given to us is little more than a glorified “Refer a friend” marketing tactic to boost the live-service’s numbers.
I think its safe to say that the devs committed fraud in their marketing and sold the game on lies.
I would just like to say that the large majority of the games I’ve played the random players have been awesome!
I’ve run into a few bad apples, and a few complete idiots but for the most part the other players have been polite, fun, and teamwork oriented. Most games start with , “Hey how’s it going?” “good, you?” “Not bad”. Followed by silence as everyone focuses on playing. Ending with a quick, “gg” “yeah gg” “gg guys”. And then on to the Mourningstar. Even on losses it’s something like, “oof that hurt” or “wow i did not see that coming, sorry everyone”
I’m not trying to start an argument here. I just want to make sure the awesome people get credit for being awesome.
Edit: It was the same in VT/VT2 for me. MOST of the time everyone was there to play and have fun, not be an asshat. Griefers/Racists/Sexists/Douchebags do happen. But I have always felt they were a small minority.
Don’t forget to add them on your blocked list… if everybody does that, they will end alone, and that’s… great
Agreed
That’s nice, but besides the point.
Getting a good result out of the PUG roulette doesn’t change the fact that merely being required to play PUG roulette at all makes the game unfun for those of us who would rather play Solo or Private.
We want Solo and Private mode because we want Solo and Private mode. It is a requirement for the game to be fun at all. Because the game lacks that, it is fundamentally unfun and no amount of weighing the odds or shoving the carrot down our throats will make something unfun fun.
There’s already a private mode. It requires you have at least one friend playing but it does exist. And Solo mode…well I don’t disagree that it would be nice for a lot of the players. But I also don’t think it’s a priority. The game actually functioning correctly would be a nice start. The point I was making is that you want solo mode to avoid other people. But in my experience the other people tend to be pretty good people. They make the game communal and more interesting through interactions that you might not normally have. Try not to crap all over the “pugs” is my point because most of them aren’t trying to ruin your day.
Besides the bots are like less than 45 IQ. If they give you solo mode now you’ll be back the next day complaining about them and how they ruined your solo play.
That’s why I maintain improving bots is important for solo to be fun.
And solo is not only necessary if you want not to be annoyed by others (which is legitimate) but also if you don’t want to annoy others yourself because you are goofing or strolling around.
Ok, that’s legit. And I am guilty of this. Point taken.
I do not consider that shitty “Bring a Friend” live-service hook to be a proper Private mode.
Its the kind of numbers-increasing ploy I’d expect to see in a F2P gacha game, not a paid-for product that used the ability to play alone as part of its pre-release marketing and then went out of its way to prevent the players from playing alone in every possible way.
And even F2P gacha games generally don’t lie to your face about this sort of thing the way FatShark did.
Until FatShark allows Solos to access Private mode, I will consider neither to be fulfilled and the devs to be scammers who stole my money on fraudulent marketing.
Look all adding it at this point is going to do is add more lines of code they have to go thru to find, the yet more bugs it’s gonna create in a system still crawling with them, on top of the weirdly specific bugs they are helping people figure out with the game on just their systems Let them fix what they HAVE before you have them add more lines of code that clash. Hell they still haven’t figured out my own issue which is very weird and specific, but they haven’t had that one but a couple days
Then don’t add an Offline Solo mode. Simply allow Solo players to access Private mode and that can serve as a holdover until Offline Solo is ready. Its just a simple switch flip to allow this.
We know for a fact that the game’s code as it is can handle it, because there were a couple of weeks where people discovered an exploit that allowed Solos to access Private mode. People were playing this Solo Private mode just fine, up until the devs noticed and patched the exploit.
This unequivocably shows that the only reason we do not have any Solo play option yet is because the devs don’t want us to have it. They can give it to us, but have chosen not to.
This makes this development studio nothing more than a scam group that defrauded every single person who pre-ordered the game on the promise of being able to play the game Solo.
So you suggest they don’t deliver half a year after release what they promised their paying customers to deliver within a month after release?
