Stop thinking about balancing around Havoc

I did not, you’re misinterpreting the statement. Surge staff wasn’t inherently weak, but it was misused by bad players who would randomly just stun everything, making the game annoying. It was pretty good in the right hands.

Giving players a way to make the game annoying for everyone else is bad design, no matter how I phrased it. It wasn’t even punishing, it was just “oh, a bad surge psyker, now I have to run to every enemy and it’s less fun”. Calling said not-strategically-minded hypothetical psyker “low IQ” is a little bit harsh but they deserve worse to be honest.

I did not at any point say people who enjoyed it were low IQ players or had any other problem. Just that it’s bad design to make a tool that is that obnoxious when misused.

So I don’t think I’m intoxicated on anything, actual slander. I’ve got thick skin so I don’t actually mind but you gotta acknowledge you’ve got the wrong read. (And by extension, no, the nerf cultist angle is not actually reasonable)

Here’s another post I could find where I was commenting on the surge staff. I don’t see what you’re attributing to me here either, this was about the macro stuff that was rampant at the time and not that well known yet. You did complain about nerf cultists in that same thread though so maybe it stuck with you, and if I had ill will towards you I could accuse you defending the “nerf cultist” histrionics because you yourself did it.

Interestingly, I was saying the exact same thing in that thread as in this one. The game is getting buffs, buffs, buffs and more buffs. This was literally the very same patch that gave Zealot and Vet the dueling sword, but people were complaining about nerfs and people who want them for some reason. Almost 1:1 what’s going on in this thread. We have to admit that the whole “nerf cultists are ruining the game” angle is hysteria. It’s not what’s happening, and nobody reasonable could interpret it that way.
