Update: the Autogun seems to be atleast part of the problem. when firing the autogun all sound will go silent except for the casings hitting the floor, however the sound disappeared other times during the same match suggesting that there are other causes for the issue aswell. But the autogun was definately causing the sound issues for most of the last match I played.

As I have tried verifying game files, reboot etc. I will now try a full reinstall of the game to see if I can solve the issue.

Had it happen to me in the meat grinder the other day (only once), I was using an infantry autogun too; I restarted the game and it fixed it.

P.S. A re-install is not needed, save yourself some time.

im afraid its too late and I already tried other things, seems its not just my gun though, maybe the ogryn using stubber too and it can even linger when noone is using a gun.

BEsides im doing the download overnight so I dont feel the wait.

I experienced this a lot when I first started playing about 3 weeks ago (very, very frustrating) and I think I discovered a way to prevent it on my system. The problem appears to have been enabled by me changing audio output devices on my computer while the game was running. I now make sure I select the correct sound device before launching the game and I haven’t experienced this glitch since.

Hope that helps.
