"Seasons", The Orthus Offensive problem

It’s not supposed to. It’s supposed to bring back players whose attentions have drifted elsewhere. If they’re not getting hooked into the MTX flow by the rest of the GaaS BS, that’s another issue.

GTFO failed because it was an unpolished, clunky-ass game made for a niche audience.

Member when games let you just make your own skins and import them? And make your own maps and gamemodes and mutators? And not try to force you to play content you don’t want to play? I member.

Will also can see that shortterm tactics lead to disaster, companies loosing their independence being bought, leads being fired, next product is worse then previous, then they start canceling game in development, employees leaving the company cause of stress and bad morale, then company dies. Only AAA mammoth companies like Ubi or Bethesda can allow to keep doing crap games, constantly cancel games, cause they have their finacial airbag. But even then it will be final destination at some point. Fatshark clearly not at that level to act like AAA company.

CDPR is an example, they delivered several games first, one of wich was exceptional, and only then with CP2077 they shat their pants with marketing lies and state of the game on realese.

I do! Minecraft still does allow that on PC, thank the Emperor! I need to shut up before I end up eating an entire bucket of ice cream

But from online charts we can see it doesn’t work. Permanent systems/contnet/mechanics with WOAH trailer like skill tree - works. Orthus offence - doesn’t. It’s probably few monthes more and average online will be 5k again. They will drop some weapons, and online will be 10k for a month.

Like if you go for GaaS model then do it right atleast.

And cause of this, yes, also no matchmaking. But overall “unpolished, clunky-ass game made for a niche audience” sounds kinda familiar, hehe.

That’s beside the point. The “seasonal, short-time event” has a purpose, and that purpose isn’t to hold people’s attentions long-term.

What you’re asking for is just more variety in the regular game content.

DT is leagues ahead of GTFO in that department. GTFO still feels like a test build.

No, what i’m saying is - deloping unique boss enounter for short time even is a waste.

For such stuff you can just do free weekend, x2 exp or increased loot drop quality for weekend, puting xmas tree in hub and covering maps in snow, etc. Such things is there to re-atract players and cost almost nothing.

And notably could/would not do it for Darktide even though they did it for Vermintide 2.

Maybe Orthus was intended to be that, but it doesn’t feel like an event.

Even Offworld Industries, the devs of Starship Troopers Extermination, did something for the holidays despite working on fixing a botched new map release, working on an upcoming class overhaul (which will reset everyone’s class progress) and going on break for a month and a half.

Fatshark is just REALLY into RPing the bureaucratic nightmare that is the Imperium of Man in the 41st millennium… yeah… that’s gotta be it…

Their auto-scribes must be malfunctioning so they can’t respond to us… because they’re malfunctioning they can’t transcribe the forms required to submit a request for new auto-scribes… or do anything for that matter.

They’re all just there staring into their data slates pulling their cogitators out trying to figure out a way around this ironclad requirement to submit requests in triplicate from that one specific form to communicate with other departments.
