As for DS, it would have been fine if it was psyker only, but yall kinda opened Pandora’s Box there. No idea how you could possibly balance it now without gutting it for one class or another.

Really cool patch though, very excited to give Ogryn another spin.

***Also @FatsharkStrawHat, I don’t know if the Ogryn changes will affect the ability to acquire certain penances, but you might want to have the team check that before patch day!

lmao like we have a weapon diversity in havoc. DS in the same state as it was only on Psykers and DS was fine on them and then DS got broken talents nodes from Vet and Zealor. Youll kill DS youll be whine on knife, you dont see the core of the problem with DS why you even talk about balance then

Sad to see that a few other underperforming weapons haven’t gotten a look. In particular there are a few weapons you hardly ever see people using on higher difficulties:

  • Tactical axes (simply not enough damage, playing “carpal tunnel zealot” is fun with insane attack speed but underperforms other weapons)
  • Heavy Swords (they just seem largely underpowered on higher difficulties, probably need buff vs armor)
  • Vigilant Autoguns (no reason to take one over an infantry autogun, lower rate of fire makes them strictly worse in high difficulties where there are lots of targets)
  • Infantry Lasguns (no reason to take over recon lasgun, less dmg output and more recoil)
  • Double barrel shotgun (not enough range to be useful, only works at point blank, won’t even kill a pox walker beyond ~5m)
  • Shotguns other than the fire one (forget the mark, but they generally underperform compared to other weapons and the long reload time is tough in high difficulties)

Also the dueling sword really needs a nerf. It’s overpowered at the moment which makes other weapons less fun to play.

I’m not whining for nerfs, I’m stating the fact that Duelling Sword overperforms

I use it 95% of the time with the remaining 5% being the knife

I don’t care if it’s nerfed or not, but it is also true that I have seen many different approaches on how it should be nerfed (community is split on how)

People stating “back to psyker only will solve it” are wrong, it’ll not

Nah I will die on the hill that DS4 was OP on psyker, just most psyker players didn’t engage with melee and use it properly. Go run DD Scrier’s DS4 right now and psyker will play like a juiced up zealot

PG unchanged… Boltgun unchanged. Psyker that can deal twice the amount of damages of other classes (with skills but still they can) unchanged, DS unchanged.
Weaks: Tactical axe unchanged. Headhunters (bot great weapon… yes, that’s a joke) unchanged. Lasrifle unchanged (giant recoil).
Won’t make the entire list…

Ok, an Ogryn patch. They deserve it. But a balance patch? no way.

When can we hope for a solo game mode? At least we could play the game with any weapons without playing a walking simulator.
Yes, it would need several tweaks (and I plan to make a thread about that), but nothing that is a terrible work.
To say the least, tested the bots. The MAIN problem are… their weapons. The so reliable catachan sword cannot be efficient in the hands of a bot. Give them an antax CA (they don’t know how to use it with heavy hits) and this change. Replace the headhunter with an IAG or a bolter, and you have a real support from bots.
And if we could use our own character, then soloing a damnation game is easy (yes I tested it before saying it, main problem is not the bot themselves but their weapon and build). And no, a catachan sword is not a good weapon… I don’t know if it will be after this patch, but permit me to doubt of it considering that a DS, by example, is not nerfed…

Why havent they touched dueling sword, if you don’t mind my asking? Literally - and I don’t mean this hyperbolically, I mean literally - every game with randoms i’ve played ALL WEEK has had at least one dueling sword.

Because the review bombing fear when nerfing OP weapons is real. I reckon they’re afraid to get helldiver’d. Modern gaming in a nutshell.

Any chance the heavy slow down on Ogryns Power Maul activation will be removed or at least lowerd? The power output generated (either in raw damage or stagger) doesn’t justify that long phase of vulnerability/imobility.

I’ve actually been running one on Vet, and found it slots very well into ‘generalist horde clear’, possibly better than his other selections - with Deathblow (BrMom renamed) and Headtaker it has enough power to kill off gunner packs and cleave through hordes.

Yeah it can work for horde clear but it still feels weaker than other choices. Shovel can horde clear at least just as well and can also handle armor. Same with chain weapons, can horde clear just as well but can also damage armor. Heavy sword is pretty much entirely useless when the game decides to spawn a pack of 8 crushers right next to you. Or on zealot or psyker there’s even less reason to use it when you have the greatswords, eviscerator, etc. It’s strictly worse than all of those. Of course dueling sword as well is a superior choice but it’s superior to almost all other weapons at the moment.

To be fair to us, this isn’t anything new. Theres been thread after thread talking about it for months and having nothing to say but “we’re open to a conversation” is actually a kind of pathetic response and leads me to believe they’ve barely bothered to enage with any of the feedback provided.

OH MY EMPEROR!!!

First of all, hey everyone I’ve been on a DT break since like January, waiting to see a road map and a bit of bug fixing since then, and this update just has me so hyped. I feel like I’m one of the main people in here talking about the Devils Claw (my all-time favorite weapon) and this makes me feel like they must have seen my comments which is a crazy powerful feeling. Like I’ve suddenly developed psyker abilities.

Even in my break I’ve still read every hot fix and dev update post and I started reading this one like “oh this is great news, I’m excited to see the ogryn get a much needed buff, this will make the ecosystem so much more interesting and diverse”. And I got to part 3 and now I’m hyped through the roof over like 3 little paragraphs. I’ve advocated for some type of changes to the DC for done time, stating that the reliability of the parry (riposte) could use some tweeking for consistency sake, and also that it could use some way to increase its damage output. In my time saying this (several times, I’ll confess I was pretty passionate about this change), I got some agreement but a lot of people unsure of it, but I think what we will see after this change? The coolest most amazing DC clips that make this game look absolutely sick :100:. I’m at a slight loss for words so I’d just like to say thanks to the Fatshark Devs for “Hearing Me Out” on this one and I’m sure what we will see to come will be amazing. I will say I’d still love to see some riposte based blessings some new weapons gain the riposte special activation but I think this is the first step in the right direction. I’m absolutely jazzed and by all means, gimme!


I’ve been using heavy sword on my Vet for as long as we’ve had it available to fill in for the missing Khalig Sword, but it’s mostly for roleplay because heavy swords are useless against carapace, which becomes a major issue when you’re out of Kraks and the rest of the team (for reasons only known to them) doesn’t bring anything anti-armor.

Just give it riposte special and nerf mobility, maybe some bleed blessings or/and weakspot focus. Huge ass weakspot damage by default vs armored is insane.

It’s a DUELING sword and piercing weapon just as the rapier from V2. It should be rewarding for fience mastering and dancing playstyle, not speedrun. Nothing wrong with Devil’s Claw can riposte too, they are both agility kinda archetype weapons anyway.
