Itemization Rework Q&A Part 2 - Dev Blog

Nice! I didn’t expect this today so that’s nice!

With the added details on sacrifice of existing weapons, i feel that this is a big improvement from the current system and I look forward to the update!!

Allot of people are asking for stat distribution customization from brunt’s armory allot of us are tired of Brunt’s casino has we call it its a slot machine/gotcha machine you know stuff illegal in one of the countries you sell the game to.

so why cant you just let us choose the stat distribution?

Question

Is this update going to come with balancing changes? A lot of us feel the game is too easy, even on the hardest difficulties right now. Weapons like the plasma gun, revolver and knife makes the experience way too easy, for instance. I understand you guys try your best not to nerf players, but sometimes the players really do need it. Some enemy buffs would be welcomed also.

this is an example of a toxic player pushing for toxic metas. it’s their fault the game is too easy because they play it allot and now, they want to pull the proverbial ladder out from behind them so no one else can reach their level. you people have already created a toxic meta where the above listed weapons are meta because you nerfed other weapons into the ground and are now basically unusable, the weapons in which Warhammer 40k is iconic for like the Bolt weapons, Thunder hammers, power swords and anything else you nerfed in your PVE game. it must be a swedish thing to have fun police instead of a balance team, I am a new player and this game isn’t too easy its them the game has become too easy for them and they don’t want to change what they are using to challenge themselves in fact once the weapons they listed are nerfed into the ground in they will just move on to the next toxic meta and call that op it needs nerfed and thus the cycle continues.

Question

Are curios also implemented in this system somehow? Currently you can’t even buy them from the Brunt’s store.

Answer

Curios are not a part of this overhaul. We are however thinking of ways to make curios more fun and engaging. We felt that we would tackle the bigger problem of weapons first and give curios the time and attention that they need to become a more interesting part of a player’s loadout at a later time. However, we will note that the locks will be removed from Curios, as well. This means players will be able to change anything at any time, aside from the base property of the item itself.

wow you did you people forget to add them to the upgrade system? if so you need to have the capacity attached to them removed and just let people choose the perks they want without restriction. its hard enough to get the maxed-out Curios.

my cope is that the game was released prematurely and that this update will be 1.0. then we can start counting the days

Yes. It will ABSOLUTELY be my last.

The glacial pace of updates, frankly the amount of broken promises or outright lies, the worst crafting system I have ever seen in any game I have ever played, the promises of 70 unique weapons on launch when in reality, fully half of those weapons were just copies with different “mark levels,” the lack of any skins of any kind I actually wanted (WHERE IS THE TEMPESTUS SCION OUTFIT, @FatsharkStrawHat!?) really made me feel like I wasted most of the time I was playing the game.

I’ve been playing games for thirty years. I’m getting really, really sick of long duration grinds. I was trying to get Thrust IV for the Thunder Hammer since Day 1 of Beta, and I only got it within the last four or five months. Then I used it maybe ten times because the Thunder Hammer is so useless against regular enemies, and the Knife is so much stronger due to its massive agility bonuses…I couldn’t be bothered anymore.

This is even disregarding my complaint that there is no storytelling within the game itself. There’s no story missions. I can’t even pick what mission I want to go on, on the difficulty I want to play on. Or the modifiers I really like, I love Lights Out missions, but they’re only around for two weeks every six to ten months. That’s absurd. I should be able to pick these things from a mutator list like Unreal Tournament had in 2001.

Then we get to the point of how slow Fatshark is with updates, and the fact we still don’t have a Melta gun, we still don’t have a proper Hellgun, we still don’t have a proper Volley gun, there’s a two-handed Power Zweihander in the game files that’s been there since Day 1 of Beta 2, and isn’t available, and we just got the first four unique weapons added since December 2022, two years into the game’s life span. Any other game would have been considered abandoned by its devs with updates coming this slow.

I won’t be playing Darktide 2 if that ever comes out. I have >500 hours in this game. All of my friends who played have zero interest in coming back.

yea… fatshark games are good to get into after like 4 years into the game’s life span

Yeah i said the same thing when the talent tree rework dropped

That’s absolutely inexcusable and I have no idea how the studio is still in business.

Biggest deal of the entire post and it went by unnoticed.

We are no longer Rejects.
We are not even Devoted Rejects.
We have evolved into the informal Everyone.

This is big.
This deserves attention.

The more I think about it @Mezmorki, the more I think it’s because they would have to design not just the system that lets you indiscriminately boost your experience on any family, but they would also have to make another system for scrapping weapons to get plasteel and diamantine (assuming such a system isn’t being released with this update already) since all we get right now is ordo dockets from scrapping.

So we’re trading taking more time on the dev side for a middle man system on the end user side.

Which makes sense if that’s the case. If the end result is the same, no sense wasting dev time on it when they’re trying to push the rework out the door.

We are aware of this problem and try to balance the game accordingly. Still, as different players will see balance changes differently, we want to be careful and try to respect all player’s investments in the game. Hopefully, the Mastery system will allow us to be a bit more forthright with balance changes, since it will make it easier for players to adapt to any new meta in the game without having to rely on RNG systems to do so.

We are also working on other features that will address this problem, but more news about them in the future when they’re in a more solid state to share.

What are these features?

Thank goodness there was no Freudian slip and we were inadvertently called Devoted… er… “simpletons”.
