IMO
I like the “Tainted Communications Devices”-modifier,
BUT I already made out some issues with it.
Like with other pickups, people sometimes ignore them,
because they joined the mission via quickplay and just don’t care.
This isn’t as bad as with Scripts/Grims, since you can pick them up yourself
and solve them on your own,
BUT it has the issue attached,
that if nobody is guarding you you may have issues to solve them in “peace”.
People often pick them up and have no idea what to do with them.
Sometimes this leads to them carring them to the end unsolved…
There is also potential for grieving.
See point. 2 if done on purpose.
Sometimes, while solving the “riddle”, people steal/pickup your stimm.
That’s the four major issues I spotted thus far.
EDIT:
I already experienced in the few missions I did
how much potential for friction this can have even UNINTENTIONALLY.
Now imagine some trolls using this for active grieving…
I really liked the event. However, I would have better appreciated it in a solo game. Every interesting game was in solo (that I tested a lot, but solo is really hard). Because I waited the spawn and it was fun.
But in normal game… no player want to wait 15 seconds to solve it. You solve it in a lift, preventing the scab operator to spawn close to you. And the game will spawn it on the back of the team.
And all players rush to the end… the scab operator takes time to attack… he is so careful at trying to reach the team that the said team is on Morningstar when he get to the extraction point.
The enemy is good. I played with it a lot (at contrary of players here). That’s really fun the little army that come with it. I really would like that the scab operator is not linked to communication devices.
I know that someone told me that he has seen one out of comm device hacking. Never seen that… so I doubt of it.
Anyways, it is a good feature, not best implemented. As it is, they have not let it 1 chance to succeed. This feature was created for players that take their time with the game, while we have a majority that just try to get in Guinness World Records book in the section of the “faster runs completed in Darktide”.
