What is with all the weird people in the replies? You can hate the CCP as much as you want but you just sound insane because it’s for the stupidest reasons. I hate the CCP for actual real things they’re doing in the real world and not because they disallow certain depictions of things in their media. I mean that’s bad too and they’re extreme, but literally every country does it to some extent.
What I find really weird is just how much crap OP is getting for making their request.
They’re asking for a “streamer mode” that tons of other games have that hide other players’ names. It’s not some grand conspiracy or a demand for the entire world to bend the knee and censor themselves. It is reasonable to request for this very common OPTION. It will not affect you in any way if you just don’t use the option. It’s commonly called streamer mode precisely because live streamers use it to avoid having offensive names on their screen while they’re streaming. Live streamers everywhere around the globe use it (including the “free world”), not just China. I think their translation for this is “[TV] anchor mode.”
I have like 20 people on my block list for having racist/sexist/fascist names. Some of them are now [unknown] I guess from having their name reset and/or banned because people report them. Do you cry “censorship” if someone with a name like “KillAllJuice” gets banned? Fatshark takes action against offensive names so if you’re truly against censorship then you should stop supporting this company and uninstall the game. Otherwise you’re a hypocrite with double standards and no principles. Fatshark would not let me post this comment because I had a word that means poop or crap that starts with s and ends with hit. Censorship right?
I have a crap PC and use mods to reduce as many effects as possible because the huge amounts of blood and lightning in this game is just annoying and reduces my FPS. I would love if Fatshark made an option for this instead so I don’t have to use mods. Does this make me a CCP shill who loves censorship? For wanting an option to reduce some visual effects?
For OP, there are some mods that can help solve your problems if you are on PC. Some of them unfortunately may not be updated for the newest version.

i think if art has to reduce its quality to reach metrics of tyrannical bureaucrats to deem something “acceptable” by their own arbitrary whims, I would i consider that a bad thing.

Yeah you also don’t need to start a political fight because someone asked for a feature that would be helpful to them. Do I particularly care to see resources go towards that? Not really but also whatever.

I mean I don’t like the wording there either but also language barrier, plus they clarified later the kind of feature they were hoping for, which didn’t sound that unreasonable to me.
Like whatever this ain’t a hill I’m dying on I just get the feeling a lot of people here might be overly eager to jump on anything CCP related.
