Unless the locks are broken and the silo removed, I doubt this game will ever see year 2, let alone year 3.
That’s only the absolute minimum, however. Breaking the locks is only really helpful to those of us with absurd playtime and a big blessings library. To actually appeal in the slightest to players with lower playtime, the entire progression system needs to be completely changed. Ideally most every system in the game should be ripped out and redesigned, but we all know the competency to do that doesn’t exist at FS. The quickfix to progression would be to make Brunt far, far more forgiving and/or allow us to max stats on weapons, in combination with dramatically lowering the cost to upgrade weapons, so that you don’t need to play 4-800 missions to get a full blessings library for some of the more unforgiving weapons (force swords come to mind).

For most newer players the crafting system is fine. You can run all the way up to damnation without max blessing weapons. I still have some weapons I’m using with T2 blessings because the perks are that good. Breaking the locks would allow relatively mid weapons to preform at an acceptable standard and allow newer players with fewer resources more ability to customize their loadouts and make the most of their stats rolls while grinding for better rolls. Its far from perfect but its a very simple solution.
This game can survive until Y2 without reworking crafting. I don’t know that it’ll make it without ameliorating crafting.
I added siloing to the list, its a key problem for sure. I actually thought of it while grabbing coffee. But your call out there is justified and warranted.

I suppose I was thinking about players with ‘middling’ weekly/monthly playtime. Not so low that they really only get to 30 on one character and quit, but get to the point that they want to experiment and try out different blessing combos on at least one character - which in the current system you can just completely forget about unless you’re dumping a whole lot of hours into the game.
Ideally things need to be redesigned, but yes as long as crafting (and siloing) is helped in some useful form, that can help the game survive. Obviously ongoing content is also required to give the game longevity. I’m just of the opinion that ongoing content is nearly useless until crafting is fixed in one form or another, as no amount of content is going to stop players from hitting the RNG brick wall and deciding this game isn’t worth it at all and does not respect their time in the slightest.

I’ll tell you when I’m done with collecting blessings accessable to Veteran. For now, I have all level I and II I’m missing 4 level 3 on las pistol and half from revolver. For level 4 blessings I have a bit more than half (some weapons are full - Powersword, plazma gun, tactical Axe, Lasgun from Krieg and Headhunter) but some weapons are missing majority or half of all level IV. So far I’ve completed 821 missions.

I feel like maybe you can expect a little bit more than completely unable. But certainly not for multiple weapons, at least not easily. But at the same time tier 1 and tier 2 blessings will likely be available enough.
Personally i still have a lawbringer with tier 2 no respite that i regularly use because the perks are really good. I use it in damnation. Perfect rolls will still be grindgated but reasonable crafting options will open up by removing this layer of the RNG cake and thats good enough for the next six months, maybe more in my view. Personally i avoid engaging with crafting as much as possible and don’t have any idea what blessings i do or don’t have unlocked. I only ever worry about getting a preferable combo at about t3 and call it a day. My focus is on the gameplay. But i put crafting amelioration at the top because so many people do consider it their first priority.

Hey, I remember seeing this threat back in January and being really impressed by it. It’s been stuck in my memory banks ever since. Happened across your latest video tonight and decided to search it up on a hunch. I had no idea you’d written this, actually.
Just wanted to say, nice video.
