He does but its part of his shtick. Jakal can make genuinely good lore observations but everything said about games and gamers is generally inflammatory and should be regarded as a joke post. For your sanity.

Jakal posts really are something. I think he’s just permanently high or something, there’s no way someone could post something like this sober:

because someone with a brain working at full capacity would actually realize “oh wait VT2 was the same model and many people played it solo”

no it wasn’t it was P2P. that’s a major difference on their end because it means every game is now costing them more since they’ve got the additional hosting issues to take are of.

you would be surprised how in reality renting cost of AWS instance servers is not that expensive as you make it sound. 24 hours should equal about 2.30$, 1 week = 14$ 1 month = 140$ 3 years = $1,419. bonus: 10 years = below the 9k it is not that crazy.

if you think about it, with all the sales the game made, it does indeed covered the costs for plenty time.

it is obviously expensive over time but as company, they probably earn thanks to all the games they made, plus dlc/skins and all.

not putting solo mode or offline/p2p functionalities as well, it is just a lazy aspect. because they could have done that easily.

We have no idea why they gave up. Solo mode was promised early in development, Fatshark was it was almost ready to go at Release, then we got silence for months until they said it wasn’t a priority, then more silence, and once the game had been out more than a year they said it was no longer being worked on.

Whether it fit the game model or not, whether it’s a technical or feature issue we have no idea, Fatshark hasn’t delved into any reasoning, but between 7 different people with credited PR/Marketing leadership roles for this title (not counting the actual CMs) Fatshark hasn’t exactly been forward or consistent about what’s going on with Solo, we just know it’s not available.

Praying for an Arthur Morgan tier redemption arc for Jakal :pray::pray:

You can already play Darktide solo self hosted it’s just lacking progression which is really what people want, but go off, tell me about how it’s technologically impossible my man.

technically if you do a private lobby with a friend, and your friend leaves, then nobody can join that lobby and you would remain alone. it’s basically a scuffed solo mode with progression. however it is obviously tedious doing everytime with external help. it is just weird that FS can’t implement already, making like that you don’t need a friend to host a private lobby.

it would also fix (for the people that didn’t yet) those forced private penances that are very easy to do even in public games anyway, and even in solo, but sadly there isn’t yet an official solo mode.

I love coming back to this thread and seeing the “I don’t want it so you shouldn’t either” crowd like Jakal getting crushed with the reality of facts when they operate in the realm of opinion.

Edit: as always everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if that opinion is that solo mode shouldn’t be added. But I wish the selfishness would go away and they’d accept that while they don’t want it, other people do and it would improve their gameplay experience

you can do it with progression too, its just irritating because MMT still does the matchmaking check and waits to connect to players that can’t see your invisible except to Darktide friends you have lobby before setting it up. if it wasn’t for that/the lack of editing freedom I’d use that mod more. so I offline solo instead. for whatever reason making a private lobby this way is fine, but not a one person private lobby in vanilla
