Don't start the lobby timer until someone joins

That is all.

It would be better if the countdown could be started after at least 2 people had prepared and stopped when no one was ready.

Independent of the number of players in the lobby, the timer should

  • count down from ~30s as long as at least 1 person is ready
  • count down from ~3-5s (or less, if the timer was already below that) when everybody is ready
  • reset/not start when nobody is ready

The only thing I can think of is that the servers are so potato it’s an attempt to minimize time under (any) load on them. (From what I can tell from looking at the logs the lobby uses the same server as the actual mission) Not that I disagree, it’s stupid that it doesn’t require at least one person to be ready or something and default to having a like 5 minute timer at the least the concern is of people AFKing in lobbies. (Going down to 1 minute once one person/half the team readies up or some such)

Not that it really stops you from just sitting on the helipad since the actual mission/spawns and whatnot don’t start until you leave it so it doesn’t really accomplish anything by instantly counting down.

Pretty sure it’s there so people can’t stall forever. Payday 2 has a big problem with this where players will continously wait out the lobby and force you to quit.

That makes sense, I didn’t get why the timer can’t be paused but it is effective in preventing that situation at least. Still, I’d prefer being able to pause so I or my team mates can adjust our build(s) (or switch characters PLS) when necessary cause if you run out of time then without making your desired changes then you’d have to disconnect and make your changes in the Mourningstar before then reconnecting or starting a whole new game if it was public instead of private.

IMO the ideal system would be pausing the game if nobody has readied and resuming the timer when at least 1 person is ready.

For sure, but there’s no reason to start it when you’re the only person in the lobby. It’s not like you’re hurting anyone by staying alone in a lobby until people start joining.

Is that the case below T5+hi-int+stg though? I don’t think I’ve ever seen people do that otherwise.

I mean I’ve done it before when the lobby has started with me solo (especially since I play very late/early for my time zone), usually I just wait on at least one other person for anything damnation related. Otherwise I just play it by ear based on what the other people seem to be wanting to do.

Either way it’s more about the fact that you can just choose to do that, so having the timer count down is stupid. It should require at least one person to be readied up.
