They always said that itemisation might not make the release on the 25th. It sucks but we were all prepped and expecting the delay.

Absolutely no arguments that their comms are probably the worst I’ve ever seen for a videogame company BUT we are still getting a new map for DT which is a game I am totally in love with, despite it’s flaws. I’m very excited to get a new map.

100% sad about the crafting but tbh that feels like something they should just get right in DT2. It’s too far gone with DT imo. We just need the locks taken out of DT and it’ll suffice until DT2 which is, I’m sure, where all their resources are going.

Pretty much every system in DT, outside of actual gameplay, needs a total overhaul. It’s too much to change this late in the day. They just need to learn from them and make DT2 polished AF whilst giving us new maps/weapons and unlocking the crafting to scratch the itch in the meantime.

Looking forward to it, although ultimately maps are just more spice. New VO/lore will be fun, hoping the mechanics are fresh. But the real meat I’m excited about is the new weapons!

The Vox Intercept hints at nothing. It was a goof up.

It’s pretty clearly meant to be a teaser for an AdMech weapon bundle that was probably planned at one point and has since been scrapped or indefinitely delayed. They used the sound bite without really thinking and are now in damage control mode. They originally claimed it was talking about the 4 new weapons we are getting but belatedly realized that it really doesn’t fit the double-barrel shotgun (lol) and had to default to the next closest weapon, the plasma, despite the gun-shot not sounding like a plasma and the plasma not setting anything it hits on fire. It was probably a volkite, arc, or phosphor type weapon they had in mind for the male vet and the female vet complaining about headaches and taking pills was probably a galvanic rifle or rad weapon.

So read nothing into it. It was a SNAFU and nothing more. Someone really ought to listen to the audio clips from now on before hitting the send button.

When we got the update in April and it had no weapons, I figured it made sense; they probably wanted to wait on launching any new weapons until after they had the “itemization” rework completed. No sense in launching a set of weapons and then redoing them 2 months later, right?

But now the itemization rework is delayed, so they push out a handful of basic weapons to keep us occupied and I have to wonder a bit about that.

My current hope -not really a strong one but more of a thin, “it’d be neat if it happens”-kinda hope- is that they decided to hold back all the actual cool weapons until crafting is finalized rather than have them be borked the way everything else might potentially be depending on what changes they decide upon. Especially if they are meant to be paid DLC bundles -which is fair in my estimation- it just avoids a lot more drama if they make all alterations before the paid-for weapons launch.

I don’t mean the itemization, I mean the whole ‘vox intercept all but states radium weaponry but Fatshark just says it’s ‘supposed’ to mean the plasma gun’ thingy.

Ah I see. Yeah fair enough :+1:

I shall clarify.

Some communication = 7/10
Quality of communication = 2/10
Snow map = excite! 7/10
I have to interact with “Swagger” = FFFFFFffffuuuu-ugh. Art-design-concept = 0/10

More of the scoring stuff, less of/improve the dreadful.

Hotshot lasguns? Melta weapon? New psyker staves? Plasma pistol, or new Plasma variant? Nah, it’s fatshark, best they can do is folding shovels, pickaxe and double barreled shotgun.

Jokes aside at least we are getting Bolter pistol which is fun!

if they restrict the Psyker from using the Bolter Pistol im ganna stop playing till next year.

“The good old plasma gun”
“The good old plasma gun”
“The good old plasma gun”
“The good old plasma gun”
“The good old plasma gun”

Almost feels like the account operator has it on cut and paste, or like the word came down from above, ‘Hey, we can’t get this out, tell them it’s “The good old plasma gun” and downplay anything new.’

So they did as told, and went around saying “The good old plasma gun” over and over.

We’ve seen that in regular news from time to time when the various editors / producers want to coordinate a story. “Tell them the mood was dark!” and every place you go “Dark mood at [madlib]!”

comes with a 5 shot magazine that then gets nerfed to 3

Don’t forget less armor pen than a revolver.

oooooh oke thanks

I wanted rad weapons. I mean its in the name, they’re rad.

And bolt pistol will have more cleave than revolver, unless the projectile profile we’re all assuming its using is for some ungodly super powered Revolver Ocelot single action army they haven’t modeled yet. That could definitely still be on the table given their love of cowboy guns (coachgun). Are we gonna get one every update? Gonna wrangle heretics on the frontier and maybe start a homestead?

Thanks for the update. Visually the map looks amazing, I’m looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

A couple of the design choices have me a little nervous though, I have to admit.

  1. The in-mission NPC. I do hope this isn’t an escort mission. The only time those are ever tolerable is when the NPC being escorted is invulnerable and can’t directly interact with the mission in any way.
  2. Tailoring the map for coordinated teams. This is just asking for bad feedback on the map.

I’m also unsure about the rationale behind making the mission harder at the start. I don’t even slightly agree with the notion that open areas are safer and more comforting for players. We’ll see, I guess.

I swear to god though, if you’re spamming fog and other visibility inhibitors again, I’m going to get on a plane to Sweden and sh*t in your mail slot.

I think what has me so…puzzled is that the vox intercept is clearly, like very clearly, referencing radium weapons.

Rather than like…going “hey, we had this in the works but couldn’t make it for this update, instead we need to release it in a patch we will hopefully have out mid summer!” they instead were like “Ha ha, just kidding, it’s just the good ol plasma gun! He he, nothing to uhh…nothing to see here…”

This is just such weird anti hype. “Oh you thought we were cooking something cool? PSYCHE NERD! Take you plasma gun and go away”

It’s not like we wouldn’t eventually get access to exotic weapons at some point, we are in the inquisition. Who else are they going to give weapons to that probably makes you sick just to use but packs a huge punch besides chem dogs or others?

Edit: Now that i think about it unless they are being coy about it i don’t actually understand what the point of including the vox recording is if it was just going to cause confusion and needed to be clarified as being a plasma gun. The only other thing i can think of is they are trying to do that thing that Helldivers 2 did where they go “Flying bugs, no, never” but are doing a terrible job of it because they didn’t consider the response. Just all around weird.

That’s why I have an entry in the Book of Grudges for it.

It’s clearly a lie on their part, and they’d have been better served remaining honest.
