Bound by Duty - Free Update Out Now

After using it in a couple games I actually disagree with this. The radius is now significant, its like letting off a grenade. Im about to try it with power surge and see how that fares.

I do think they should shorten the cooldown to something like 6 seconds. 12 is a bit much but spamming it would be overkill so it does need a cooldown for sure.

Will report back later.

Is this game ever going to get actual new content, such as new factions, or are we going to continue reshuffles with numbers until the end of time?

Nothing in this update is interesting in the least, most of all, the changes to autoguns and chain weapons which basically do nothing at all to fix the core issues with them.

Nope, power surge still sucks afaict. The 25% increase doesnt feel at all like it works and neither does any secondary explosion.
@FatsharkQuickpaw would it be possible to ask about power surge and maybe get someone to look at it?
Im not sure its even working at all and if it is, then maybe the 25% is not enough and maybe the secondary explosion on armoured enemies actually needs to feel like a second hit. It really feels like its doing nothing at all in-game.

Im going to try testing it in the psykhanium but I suck at that kind of stuff.

edit: after some testing the 25% does work but honestly isnt worth it. It should be 50%. I literally cannot tell what that secondary shockwave does, I dont see it, I dont feel it, there is no secondary shockwave on armoured.

Run Big Boom instead. It’s a substantial boost to the stagger zone and makes it more possible to include 2 elites in the center blast radius if they are doing their usual crowding your face.

Solo mode?

Solo mode.

Yes and no!

The flagged one was definitely about Solo mode, but apparently calling Fatshark out on their lies “offensive” to some people. /shrug

The deleted comment was because I can’t read :D. One of the Zealot talents is “2.5% toughness/s with a nearby enemy, +1% more for each additional enemy up to 7.5%. Monstrosities count as 5 enemies.” and I read it as “2.5% per nearby enemy” and was like “why the hell are monstrosities counting for 5 enemies when you only need 3 to cap the talent?” then hit “reply”, reread my comment and went “D’oh!” as I realized I can’t read.

I removed the only thing that could have been considered offensive, and honestly it was like 4th grade level of “offensive”.

Esit: Apparently someone still thinks it’s “offensive” to call out Fatshark about their lies. To borrow a meme from @CH3DD4R_G0B-L1N and @Ragnarok101

I think it feels good for light spam now. More like the bully club. But that activation feels so clumsy and weak imo. Thammer feels more powerful when activated I swear and that has no cool down.

I’ve only tried it in auric and havoc 30+ but the knock back has seemed like a very small radius to me.

Looks like a ton of great changes here. Thanks!

@FatsharkQuickpaw Haven’t had the opportunity to play yet but did Brain Burst / Brain Rapture for Psyker get buffed to compensate for the increased health pools of enemies? It was already kinda bad to use before, with some elites requiring several uses to kill on Damnation+.

After using it more I must say it’s growing on me but for the 12 sec cool down I do think it needs to be a bit beefier when activated. It’s quite a clumsy activation too…sometimes doesn’t activate when button is pressed. Or cool down drastically reduce.

I’d prefer a super damage and long cool down but either would be better than current imo

Power Maul’s activation is too slow for a one-time impactful hit every 12 seconds. During the activation the situation can change enough that it’s no longer needed. Why not just make it like the Arbites Power Maul, so that hitting Special does the actual attack?

It’s also kinda unclear when the cooldown is over. I know there’s a visual and a sound cue, but it’s not always easy to notice when your weapon model is swinging wildly and combat noises drown out the sound.

The slide-attack on the Power Maul pretty much always ruins my intentions to slide towards a key target and use L1 > L2 strikedowns. And it doesn’t flow well during combat to have a Heavy strikedown hidden behind Light strikedowns or a push, since windows of opportunity to strike key targets are small, and you usually want to start an engagement with a hard-hitting strikedown, not two lights followed by an overkill heavy.

Yeah I was just coming back to say as much actually. The activation is SOOOOO slow. It makes hitting anyone still staggered a real challenge. And obviously stagger is where you want to hit with it.

I absolutely advocate this. This is how it should work. Currently the vet’s grenades blow everything to smithereens before you’ve managed to get a swing in. Then you’re left with a charged Paul with nothing to hit - which means it times out (weirdly way faster than 12 seconds) then you have to wait 12 seconds to charge it again. Rinse and repeat.

Maybe a nice mechanical ping when it’s ready again would be good too.

Nice! Im gonna try Big Boom and power surge together just for a laugh to see how that affects the radius but due to the lack of any secondary shock its still not something I will be taking. Come to think of it, my build I use Paul on might already have Big Boom so Power Surge might just be plain useless no matter what. Edit: It didnt, gonna try it now!
Edit2: Na, Power Surge is seriously pish. Big boom is a better option overall because it affects your other explosions too. I guess if you use rock and a non aoe ranged weapon and want a tiny increase to Paul but without the secondary shock seeming to do anything, Im thinking Power Surge is pretty much useless.

Agreed. I think the best thing is reduce the cooldown.

The traitor captain’s shield insta-down bug is still present.

Anyone else experiencing weird things when you try to change weapon perks and blessings?

In my case: changing a blessing and then getting a pop-up akin to “unable to perform operation” but the UI telling me that it both did and didn’t work. After restarting the game, the changes are shown correctly.

Maybe I should add, this has happend when changing stuff on a currently equipped weapon.

Yeah I’ve had the entire hadron menu go totally blank and other weird stuff as you describe. Seems someone has let a gremlin into the UI this update.

Can we please get something to do with the “resources”:

New weapon maxed out, commissary is bought out… And Melk has been maxed out now for close to a year…

Out of curiosity how much playtime do you have? Do you play all the classes?

I ask because I have ~820 hours in the game and rarely have more than 250k is dockets and about 25k plasteel and diamantine.

I have all classes at 650-400 - except Arb, that’s only 330.
(I stopped playing other classes (except the Arb) as there was nothing more to do, only missing some Havoc penances and one or two other)
