Zealot thread

Ironically, the biggest “buff” for Zealot’s grenades was everyone getting blitz regen. Psyker doesn’t use grenades, Vet has multiple sources of regen, Arbitrator either has dog or regen, so if you don’t have Scum or non-rock Ogryn, you’re the one who can freely pick up nades.

Martyrdom does the same thing. But better.

(mostly the same thing)

No

No increase in dodge distance
No increase in dodge refresh rate
No toughness regeneration

Granted it gets a lot of different boni, and better raw damage and attack speed. But there is ample attack speed, raw damage and toughness resistance in Zealots tree. What makes IJ addicting are the other boni

This makes me think: Why we still don’t have an electro crowd control “spear” for zealot/arbs. They’ve already got the moveset from v2

Those are called Shock Lances in 40K. Miguel Iglesias, a concept artist for Darktide, actually portrays such a thing in his concept art for Hive Scum.

Do keep in mind that Shock Lances are more of an Arbitrator thing, though. Hive Scum’s identity as a Class has changed SIGNIFICANTLY since its concept art phase.

As for Zealot, I personally envision them as more likely to wield Power Spears rather than Shock Lances.

Weirdly enough, Miguel Iglesias ALSO portrayed Power Spears in his Hive Scum concept art…

It’s almost like he’s trying to tell us something!

jack-nicholson-jack

I’ll take both.
FS will read this and go: Here’s a fork MK4, MK3 and MK9

Has allowing Zealot to have 3 melee weapon blessings instead of the standard 2 ever been considered / tested by Fatshark?

I mostly use the heavy eviscerator and i always find myself wishing i could combine 3 weapon blessings to really have a cohesive build and get over certain breakpoints. (Yes, I’m sure everyone would love having extra perks on all weapons.)

I feel like this would be a unique way to distinguish the Zealot class while being in line with the flavor of the character. This would be limited to melee weapons only and ranged would still have the normal 2 blessings.

My apologies if this has previously been considered / tested and dismissed.

Hmmmm honestly I think that would have to be a keystone but maybe I’m over rating how much extra power that would bring. It would certainly feel quite nice to be able to justify bringing a fun utility blessing like rev it up without feeling like you’re gimping yourself.

Heavy sword would probably benefit quite a bit from being able to fit in rampage. Dueling sword would be even more disgusting with its blessing options. Relic Blade might not actually benefit much?

I dunno it is kind of interesting but I wonder how well it would work in practice with how wonky blessing balance is. You’d almost need a blessing balance pass to come through first for it to make much sense I’d think. Trying to imagine a practical implementation is tricky.

the only things that feel like Scum devalues parts of Zealot is just A. a few general mobility considerations, I think their unique strengths should be a little more emphasized, at least based on FOTF I would expect Zealots should have faster max speed but less sustained speed, instead of the multiple dodge focuses

B. Hive City Brawler just completely aping Desperation feels boring to me; it’s less of a “power” concern and more a flavor/uniqueness one. Give Desperation its own inverse relationship benefit like HCB has; once again it should be different to emphasize their different focuses. Maybe Zealot gets increased reload speed at fuller stamina? There’s so many directions they could go without being derivative

heck even if it was range attack speed or damage the zealot would still be far from drowning in ranged power.

You basically never have to manage uptime with Cranial+Heatsink+Overload. Not that you really have to do it currently anyways.
