They’re blaming the community for not releasing new content too. The lead producer said that they shifted gears away from content to fixing game issues “based on community feedback”, which is the biggest load of bs I ever heard. If they were doing things based on community feedback, locks would’ve been gone before they even “finished” implementing crafting.
giving excuses like this is common for someone is about to get fired. give them time. having one bad quarter is “ok”, having two in a row is questionable, haing 3 is out

Oh no, we don’t get two new maps. We get one new map. The other one is hidden behind a “community goal” because that way they can obscure that they can’t bet on when they’ll actually be able to release it, and adjust said “progress” to reflect their shifting goalposts.
Any time Fatshark tries something weird and new, it’s because the last bandaid didn’t work so they have to paint the new bandaid a different color.

Basically, peak player counts per month for VT2 were quite a bit bit better at this point in the game’s lifecycle. DT had a higher initial peak on release, but when it fell off it fell off that much more as a % of its initial launch peak. 6 months out, VT2 had lost about 77% of it’s launch numbers, while DT has lost nearly 94%.
Sorry bro but its 1 map and 1 locked map. They heard how much we all liked the locks on crafting perks and blessings, on mission difficulty selection, and on class resources, so they locked new map content too.

Yeah, it is 2 missions, no new maps.
I expected at least 1 new map at this point, or, at least 3-4 new missions with 1 new boss fight on assassination.
The content is very minimal. Just enough to be barely acceptable, but much more important is what will be in the patch notes apart from the content.
If they are still insistent on the design intent™ they started with, I’m changing my positive score on steam to a negative for sure.
Let’s just wait til Monday to see where this ship is headed: pause for a year or two and reassess or have they come around on bad design choices and we may have a more positive outcome with future patches.

No truth is the man in charge decided that they want to retain more players so they put an arbitrary number of missions that need to be completed before the other one unlocks that way people keep playing. They’re trying to stretch the bare minimal content that they have as far as they can.
And what’s funny is they’re calling this a community event yet there’s nothing eventful about it. They also said you’ll unlock rewards. What rewards could there possibly be? The game is unrewarding in its core.
they mentionned in the patchnot that the first two reward will be a tatoo and a hat (or set of hat).
The first two tiers are a tattoo (what a joke, you can’t even see them!) and a helmet. The third tier should’ve also been a cosmetic, or maybe like 400 Aquilas.
It’d cost them literally nothing if they launched similar events on a regular basis. They don’t even need to put cosmetics in the rewards. There are so many options. E.g., a guaranteed yellow weapon with the 380 rating, a bunch of dockets, some plasteel, curios, or maybe a random T4 blessing that you don’t have. It won’t solve the locks problems. But people would enjoy having a nice little bonus for their activity.
Its so funny because this really was an easy win. Rather than trying to grindgate their content, just let us play it. Instead of retaining me they’re losing me. I’m dippin’ bro. Maybe some nolifers will unlock the map for me or it’ll just unlock on its own eventually. But I’m not working for it.
I highly doubt the understaffed thing, more like their priority is not the game’s content, but console release.

That is a definite. I really think 2 maps would have been a pretty good content drop to keep their game alive if it was 2 maps and not 1 map and a big lock icon.
Maybe i’m making mountains out of molehills here. But it just seems so tone deaf on top of not addressing any of the other serious problems the game has. They could still surprise me with some crazy patch notes. I remember they did with Tools of War. We got more than I expected by a wide margin. I’m trying to temper my salt stream a bit but I still think the grindgated map is just a horrile horrible idea.
They mentioned something like “challenges in order to unlock rewards”, so it might be better than simply playing 1,400,000 missions just for one map.
Unless the rewards will be another reskins of Beta helmets
