After playing the game since day 1, amassing almost 2000 hours of game time across all classes playing at auric level only since it was introduced (note I haven’t frequented the forum much or anything like reddit at all), just generally playing and enjoying Darktide, I was surprised to learn smite was such a “problem” skill, and made auric level games “easy mode”. After never having heard anyone say a thing in game negative towards smite, it made me realise maybe I need to know all the so called broken, unbalanced and game breaking skills and weapons that make the game “easy mode” and ruin the game for so many players. And conversely all the skills and weapons that are deemed OK to use. Otherwise I am just going to play the game how I like to and I’ll wait for anyone to complain, and address the situation then.
Gets my seal of approval ![]()
Seconded… or thirded (tertiaried?), in this case.
Just play the game how you want. Anything that is broken will continue to get more attention until it gets adressed/fixed. It’s nothing personal.
Most people playing the game are not doing to speak up or particularly care about what weapons and abilities you are using, so long as you are a good team player and effective in fulfilling your role.
Many “problem skills/weapons” boil down to completely trivializing the game in multiple aspects. It’s fine for a tool to be really good at one thing while just okay at other things, e.g. bolter/brain burst, but if a tool excels at too many things, then you start to see it everywhere, and it gets boring to see.
We see lots of complaints about Plasma Gun and Smite, for example, because these are both great examples of this. While Smite doesn’t necessarily kill anything, it has literally the best crowd control in the entire game, and a lot of people don’t find it that fun to whack lifeless training dummies until they fall over - they want an enemy that fights back and tests their defensive skills.
Plasma Gun, on the other hand, straight up deletes every non-boss enemy it looks at, and has enough ammo to never run into problems if played semi-intelligently. It’s a master-of-all that can turn the game into a singleplayer one in the hands of a skilled player, and similarly, it’s not fun to have to sit back and watch the Veteran with PG do all the work.
I think most people in on the discussion of what’s overpowered and what’s unfun are at least reasonable and aren’t going to berate others for how they play - they just want a game state that’s fun with as many viable meta options as possible.
Id say ignore all advice in here and just do this anyway ![]()
You need to write a formal request to the warrior lodge of sweatloards attach your build with curios, talents, weapons and all required info and awaid 2-29 weeks for a response.
Never seen anyone complain about my builds. I usually get more people shocked that someone actually brought smoke grenades to a mission and were curious if they helped.
Think the only time I’d question someone’s loadout these days is if they brought a Shredder Autopistol, honestly…
only reason I bring a shredder for nowadays is to knockdown Ragers from a safe distance and poke 'em while they’re down. Quick little burst to the noggin and they fall over, repeat ad nauseam for the remaining Rager ball…
Autopistol’s useless aside from that. An example of a nerf gone too hard. What’s the point of a weapon that does basically nothing? I get complaints about weapons being good at everything** but having weapons that aren’t fun to use and genuinely can’t do much is pointless.
** (I don’t, you’re broken people who complain about the ability to trivialize any challenge with broken kit and demand arbitrary restrictions because you won’t make your own difficulty by challenging yourselves to make the game harder and you won’t play anything else so you just keep getting more and more elitist in your views about how the game should be played)
First, one like for satiring a certain hyper-toxic sweaty-tryhard bullying section of Darktides players. Second a big thumbs up for having the guts to be brazen about it.
Welcome to a game where the “community managers” are too busy being obsessively concerned about suspending & banning people for “creating dissent” and being critical of staff not doing their job to ban the sort of players who push these mindless “must control everything about everyone” mentalities. And yes that first part was literally the reason they put on my last suspension notice. I actually checked to see if the studio had moved to a certain hyper-authoritarian dictatorship without my noticing it on reading that.
Maybe if they had put that much effort into making examples of the various sweaty-tryhards who think they’re big tough cyberbullies they would have had playerbase more willing to work with them. Its kind of hard to have an actual discussion or brainstorming thread now without half a dozen various names showing to scream their own verion of “git gud n00b” along with their robo accounts that upvote them and report everyone who takes apart their arguments.
Oh well, people reap what they sow and Fatshark is really good at sowing division among its players. A pity they forgot to consider what would happen if they needed the players collective input to fix something.
been taking a week off for getting my space marine lethal solo with bots done (5/7 maps completed so far) and while its a totally different game it confirmed one thing for me:
if i want something done right, i do it myself.
whatever your talents/loadout (equipment within reason mind you, green equip on a fresh lvl 30 in auric maelstrom is still team sabotage in my book)
you bring,
in the most positive sense of the phrase: i don’t karkin care.
as long as you carry your own weight and don’t act detrimental to the overall progress, go palpatine or psyker hobo with a shotgun (at least have the courtesy of taking a rutger hauer like face, but thats about it)
had the discussion with my buddy ever so often to inspect gear, my point always remained “why should i give a f”
best chances are the dude knows his stuff and more of the “good stuff” cant be bad.
so 2 or more ogryn are kickbacking and pickaxing.
worst scenario, dude’s dog
so why would i opt for an inferior kit when especially in this setup its up to me to carry.
even more so for completely other classes.
ogryn pope is approving of any sheet that earns us rashuns and frowns at punies kissing the floor every other room.
like seriously, they are gross, janitor grew tentacles and quit-gross.
stop sleeping on floor and kill more heretics, then all’s good
Sometimes I play a gun psyker with an auto pistol
