# We either need a way to explicitly start new matches, or all penances need to count when hotjoining ongoing missions

Trying to get a Mortias Trials mission done for the “Veteran Skitarius” penance. Found out the hard way that, once again, it only counts if you joined before the mission actually began. Now I am effectively trying (in vain, so far) to enter a fresh mission, and have to leave if the game loads into an ongoing mission. This is terrible design for the penance, the game, and the community.

Same with Auric Exemplar and Auric Storm Survivor, I assume for the latter.  
Should have already finished Auric Exemplar a long time ago, but three matches did not count when I was at 9/10… and then I died. So had to start all over again.
