# Veteran Weapon Idea: Refractor Shield

vets have plasma guns and i still would LOVE a weapon for either zealot, psyker, or veteran that bucks the tradition of BOTH melee and ranged mostly because i think it would be a cool option and i feel vet has the best grounds for a weapon idea like this being replacing their melee with a refractor shield that maybe give sthem gold toughness and constant regen of toughness on a percentage as well as makes the permanently count as not under threat of a melee attack while its active being a temporary activation with just a cooldown once its energy (hp) is used up or its duration naturally ends while also buffing the vets ammo savanging enough to make up for not having a melee weapon basically being a “the hordes on me, time to pop my shield and use the soup gun to turn them all to a fine red mist safely” maybe also conveying a base damage boost too leaning into making the vet a pure high damage destroyer but its a all or nothing thing where if you run outta ammo, your SCREWED and t most can maybe use your shield still on cooldown till you find an ammo crate.

Only class that would/should realistically get something like this is Skitarii.  
Also what’s with this “give golden toughness and everything all at once”? You’re having trouble as a vet or something?
