Just thought I’d drop this little recommendation out there for anyone who hasn’t tried it yet.
Press fire. Hold fire. Sweep left to right at head height.
Gave it a run out yesterday and … yeah, I didn’t outscore the plasma vet, but it was fun just mowing hordes. I did try the other marks, but the torrent one - VIc as it now it - was confusing (am I hitting anything? I can’t see!) … whereas this one at least packs a bit of punch.
Don’t think it’s worthy of a build in the section over there, but maybe someone else will find it fun too! (Mk XIV was the old VIIa)
Mate also tried it. He prefers the Vraks IA (the old Columnus V) as that has a bit more stopping power on armour, but this has the benefit of a larger clip size before reloading. You can hip-fire like it’s ADS (though you miss out on the Deadshot bonus). And ofc, practically no recoil so you don’t have to start at the neck.
*edit If you do, swap out “Shock Trooper” for something else; maybe “Determined”.
Sorry - yes, I should have said. If you take any non-laser weapon, flip out the Shock Trooper skill. Maybe for Determined (quick close - it’s the anti-suppression one).
One of “those” I think. You pays your money, you takes your choice.
I like the nod towards team boost. The additional 50% catchment volume (1.5 * 4/3.pi.r^3) of VoC is useful. But I don’t disagree the others are valid choices.
I appreciate the suggestions mind you; good for others’ to see there’s flexibility in the build.
Uh yes it does, for the overshield part, as usual @kuli to the rescue if you’re unsure. Hel, the ability is called “veteran_combat_ability_increase_and_restore_toughness_to_coherency” if you wanna look at it.
(Duty and Honour obviously)
For Veteran, Voice of Command adds 50 bonus toughness (yellow), additionally to setting Veteran’s toughness to 100% upon activation.
For allies who are in coherency with Veteran, Voice of Command adds 50 toughnes upon activation if their toughness is below 100%; if their toughness is at or above 100%, Voice of Command adds 50 bonus toughness (yellow) to allies. Charismatic increases the effective range of this talent.
P.S. I’d like credit for mentioning it here early and often, and surprising ppl that it’s coherency based!
I tested it and VoC radius stays at 9m with or without Charismatic. If Charismatic adds coherency radius and not just aura radius, then it will affect Duty and Honour, but not VoC itself.
Ok, I feel like I’ve had an autism spike. It’s quite obvious what you both meant, but I just had to go on a pedantic rant. Sorry for wasting your time on such a non-issue!
I use a very different build with it, but agree it’s a fantastic weapon after the buffs.
First of all counterfiring shooters - maybe the most important job in a team - it’s just excellent at this. Second it pulls pretty quickly, so I can often trigger weapon specialist and swap back without needing to waste a shout so create space.
Mowing hordes though? Sounds like a total waste of ammo.
Of course! And there is the joy!
Obviously not something in a mission with 3 other ammo hungry colleagues. But it’s still ridiculously ammo efficient in general, esp. if you make any semblance of effort in aiming for heads, and ofc you’ve got the boon of 25% extra ammo down that side.
Share your build though mate; I’ll give that a run out and see how it compares
Horde clear is outstanding if you can proc weapon specialist and agile engagement - no reason to invest further in the keystone though.
Krak grenades refill often, but the shovel with brittleness + rending can take down crushers as well. Light attacks only to get a high power boost (starts cleaving hordes - even the new moebians). It has great mobility = great survivability & many dodges stacks reciprocity.
For the recon I don’t know the optimal setup with blessings and perks, but this seems strong enough to take out shooters and ragers quickly. Could probably replace infernus with something better, but it works comfortably in aur mael damn so I have not been arsed to fix it. Probably will someday now that we can actually craft.
+6 stamina is great for ressing in pugs, since people in general can’t f*cking play the game properly.
Shout of course, since it’s the most OP talent for Vet.
Presumably this is an IAG build too. Looks more so than the recon lasgun, fwiw.
Cool. Thank you. I’m going to try this, but with my VraksV (formerly know as the ColumnusV) !
*edit Wot no onslaught?!
