I and many others have had issues with veteran class if you have over 200 toughness you will get almost one shotted if even if you have max toughness it makes the class borderline unplayable even at max toughness you take all the dmg from the hit i have seen people talk about this on the discord but could not find a form for it

This has been reported several times, in fact it is already listed in the “known issues” section of the launch patch notes. Just pray for fix ASAP.
