considering rebreather was made for arbites cause a playtester was hating so much tox gas/tox bombers a lot, yea it’s legit, and some buffs with weapons that weren’t really necessary for example taxe when it was already strong already, which is some fav weapon of a certain playtester
and also that talent basically a 100% tox gas immunity despite saying its 70% or whatever, could just stand afk in gas and still have toughness fine
same and i tested also a lot but it’s just meh + i just dont like the “veteran specialist” stuff like with swapping, it’s just where the focus shifts in checking the stacks and stuff just for being efficient which is just boring
i didnt like they made also until death as mandatory talent, at this point would just been better if it was an innate ability of the archetype
previously you could do builds without until death for more challenge or just to sacrifice until death to use something else, now you just can’t do that anymore, you are forced to take until death which trivializes the class a lot
until death maybe deserved to be in the “weird spot” so that you had to go for it, if you wanted the most op talent of zealot
but now it’s just grogging gifted to the class right there as mandatory talent to be taken
like good job with the zealot rework, playtesters so good with zealots
I hate stereotypical Zealot mains so much whenever I actually encounter them, because they’re unfortunately real. They’re so consistent in making mountains out of molehills.
Just got off a Clandestium Gloriana where some Zealot joined in, like, 20 Minutes into the Mission, saw me go down once shortly after he joined, and then started ragging on me with his crusty ass mic about “you died because you had shitty positioning” UNPROMPTED when I was literally downed while actively making my way to a better position on low HP, then my Teammate revived me with a Crusher in the way so I couldn’t move in time and a Sniper got me as a subsequent free kill.
This motherf*cker was telling me to “stick to the Team” when I literally died trying to do just that, I’m so sorry for not using le Meta speedster build with insane Mobility on my brand-spanking-new, experimental Castibrauto Arbitrator build that’d otherwise have allowed me to be sniffing your behind for 99% of the Mission! Like, excuse me, but you joined 20 SECONDS AGO and have ZERO context about what happened beforehand, shut your crusty, smelly ass up, you waste of skin and oxygen. For context, me and an Ogryn were both on low HP when this Zealot joined because we just pulled a rough clutch, and I simply died first between us in the aftermath. People are allowed to go down from time to time, it’s part of the game, don’t talk down to someone who went down once like they’re a dog who pissed on your carpet. Yeesh!

anyway, i can’t stand those stealth zealots who run off because they can just disappear and dump aggro on the others, then gloriously clutch while invisible. luckily there’s less of this than 1-2 years ago.

Yeah, using Stealth to “clutch” when your Teammates died because you aggro-dumped on them at the worst possible time is like saying that your car is fast because it’s rolling down a cliff.
In this dude’s particular case, he thought that I was “positioned poorly” because he has no concept that an Arbitrator with a two-handed bludgeon and an off-meta Autogun can’t keep up with a speedster Zealot 100% of the time.
DoD made Brauto usable past melee range, made the double barrel less of a funny meme sidearm by giving it better pellet grouping, and boltgun mag dump even more brainless. I really do miss taking it.
Yeah, I kinda hope for Brautoguns to get some well-deserved love soon. Brautoguns are lacking the “Mobility” that you’d expect from such a Weapon, whilst also having way too much Spread.
I mainly use Graia Mk IV Brautogun, specifically on both Arbitrator and Hive Scum. Hive Scum has the “Sticky Hands” Talent that, among other arguably less important buffs to this specific Weapon, reduces your Ranged Weapon’s Spread by 30%, and that makes Brautoguns feel GENUINELY usable. Like, the difference is night and day.
On top of a Spread reduction, I also propose that Brautoguns should get an additional Dodge, have their Movement Speed Penalty from Bracing reduced, and receive a small Damage buff.
Fatshark, please bring Sainted Gunslinger back. Heck, splice it with Out of Pocket and let Zealots go really ham if youse want, just don’t leave it like this…
Master’s retribution is actually a pretty strong talent. It’s just hard to justify the cost to take it when I can just play better and already have until death.
Because only a moron would choose NOT to take until death, resulting in all builds being forced to pass through it anyway. This meant that the tree was naturally choke pointed and this directly reduced diversity in builds. Do I need to post the meme of THE BUILD from the old days?
If you don’t take until death as a “fun choice” I get it. I’m for fun choices, perhaps a <> shape can be added there to satisfy the niche audience who wants to play without it.

You’re welcome. The Class’s build diversity is objectively up. THE BUILD is dead. There’s a valid build using each keystone, including our glorious and beloved Fat Mangas concept, and free access to blitzes (though 2 of them need some fixes).
OH: and despite some very strong talents getting added to the tree his total power level didn’t shift badly, he’s still mostly not toxic in the balance compare to other options. Chorus caught the nerf it deserved, and CDR nodes were isolated and locked so you can’t take them all anymore and cast ability every 4s.
above talked about some, i think voice of terra is never picked due to being very inefficient, out of pocket is kind of meh and i agree with some people here saying that should been a merge with sainted gunslinger as well to make it more unique and worth, master’s retribution i don’t think is that good even in a solo context, and honestly it is never picked objectively by people, especially cause taking that it means also sacrificing something more important.
speaking of sacrificing, i wish i could sacrifice and opt out taking until death to have a harder playstyle just cause would like wanted so, and in exchange spending a point for something else. until death is objectively one of the strongest talent of zealot, it doesn’t need a nerf in CD when procced, i just wish it wasn’t gifted. i get it it’s good like it is now and i can understand the reasonings but it’s one of the most strongest talents and imo it should deserved the spot where you “had to go for it, if you wanted it” in a position that is like dance for death, since also that talent despite being good is not taken due to the position.
edit: it is also painful seeing zealots being carried by a very strong talent by default, it is a talent that should been behind some path you had to go for it, in order to unlock the iconic feature of zealot since vt2. it’s one of the reason why zealots also can survive unthinkable scenarios
nothing wrong with that, the rework did some very good things, but some also bad imo
and master’s retribution many things can’t push, if we see it only good just to push poxhounds i don’t know, i don’t think it is strong, a flame nade during a horde of pox hounds in a solo context is already enough for example or even just a good positioning where all pox hounds can come from. and also it doesnt proc if its on cd and disabled and once you get back masters retribution then it wont work if you are already pounced, which is kind of shame cause then otherwise it would been very good and i wish it could do that
that’s basically the class identity even before they poached most of their movement shenanigans with hive scum. in a lot of ways they’re weaker than the other human careers, but then they get the peakiest survival talents ever to survive multiple literal game over situations unharmed (since darktide loves killing you in one bad luck episode or not at all)

and i wish people and even myself could go for that, but it’s really never worth, plus also cause zealot is melee focused, so it is a niche
but i believe more in opportunity cost when it comes to skill trees, it wouldn’t ruin class identity whatsoever if there was a swap of positioning, even to the “iconic” talent of zealot
