Too many Zealot nerfs

play hive scum 1 day and try to go back to zealot xD immobile garbage with lowest dmg potential on top of having the ult that does nothing and is never ready.. there is no reason to use this trash of a class anymore in modern darktide and sit at 1 hp just to do 1/4 of hive scum melee dmg.
fotf is a much worse version of this arbiter charge and a much worse version of rampage, so why does it have a higher cooldown ?

its not just hive scum, all other classes got buffed so much they deal a ton more dmg than zealot, he has zero ranged dmg and also 2nd worst melee dmg in the game only slightly more than veteran + the worst tree.
arbite has the same ability with BETTER effects and 10 s LOWER cooldown + better cdr talents + knocks everything down like bullrush

To be clear, I’m far from a stellar player. I’m half blind, and these days slow enough to be your father. My Havoc 40 climbs are often bloodbaths. That’s mostly because red is often the dominant colour of my scoreboard history.

You will get no argument from me about certain absolutely brainless setups on multiple classes being “better”. That’s mostly because Fatshark is frankly losing it. They keep adding skillless, brainless, Area of Effect based, screen wipe options to the game, and call it content.

Zealot isn’t a bad class, only because other classes are allowed to be in a broken OP state for months, or years in some cases.

Zealot has a lot of safety, especially when build right, and a lot of damage potential. With certain weapons you can have both. It doesn’t have Hive Scum’s cheat level of mobility and dodge based safety, but its still there. Probably the best class to learn melee front lining in Darktide.

You might be right, but Zealot has talents that cover all possible drawbacks. First and foremost: Until Death + Holy Revenant is just so imba that once you get used to it, it’s honestly scary to even touch other classes that have no equivalent. And then there are the team support tools: Chorus, Beacon of Purity, Providence, and Shield of Contempt make Zealot arguably the best support class. What’s more, particularly strong players with builds like fatmangus successfully pull off clutches — at least, the clutches I’ve come across have mostly been exactly that kind

There is nothing revolutionary there. Those screenshots with A LOT of damage taken are just me goofing around with fatmangous, mainly because we had a lot of blight recently. Those with lower HP damage are likely just martyrdom build. Both using FotF. Martyrdom is likely 6 wounds + toughness, or 5 wounds + 2 toughness.

I use the “wrong” mark of relic blade (Mk X) and the “wrong” mark of chain axe (Mk XII). Relic blade is likely Carapace + Unyielding, Cranial + Rampage / Wrath / Heatsink. Chainaxe is power maxing with Headtaker + Slaughter, Carapace + Flak or Elite. One trick is taking Grievous Wounds on Chain Axe as it allows you to stagger Crushers even out of their overhead with Heavy special attack. With enough power stacks, and damage boosts (martyr or momentum), chain axe is probably the only weapon in the game able to one shot Rotten Armour Crusher with heavy special attack, if you spend FotF on it.

Range weapon in most cases bolt pistol (run and gun or lethal proximity + puncture), the heavy shotty or las pistol. Anything with more than 100 ranged kills is likely the new bolter mark, when I felt like I had enough of game arenas full of gunners.

If you really want it I will copy / paste the actual builds in here tomorrow, but I don’t think there is anything unorthodox there. With exception of one game, those were games without inferno staff psykers spamming SB everywhere, even if we had PBB ogryn, HS etc.

All those screenshots should be from fairly recent H40 games with a couple of good players I happened to run into, so things went quite smoothly.

His melee dmg is not the best in terms of raw numbers for sure but the bursts you can have do go crazy

single target dmg is as useless as support builds in modern darktide when u look at what mass destruction psyker hive scum arbiter veteran and ogryn constantly spam,
yea its not the same sorry fotf is most worthless in comparison to break the line the 10s cd bullrush that perma knocks everything to the ground while granting better buffs

the flamer isnt great on scoreboard either its very slow and lacks supporting talents, even agripina shotgun is better. it might be possible to equal a bad public psykers dmg when they die or do a lot of mistakes but
if the skill lv is the same there is nothing zealot can do anymore except a funny dh onetap, trust me I always play with my twinbrother which is the best comparison you can have
anyways I just wanted to give OP a +1 for fotf buff since it’s never ready anymore and useless in comparison to similar abilities

if this is all about getting your green circles then you can easily just play a low difficulty and do that on any class and any loadout with no competition
and it does have supporting talents, both anoint and IJ increase its damage, and both IJ and fotf increase its dot application rate.
you are literally saying an infinite cleave DOT spreading weapon is bad, which is the exact thing that makes so many things on psyker so good
im not sure you actually understand what makes things good, which makes it really hard to actually take any other parts of your statements seriously

The “Zealot being bad at melee” sentiment has been around since launch. Sometimes it was true and other times it was only true on paper.

Wild take. It’s literally the bread & butter of Zealot besides a few other outliers. Did a 40 last Sunday just for the usual rewards. Flamer is such a hard carry for the team just as flame staff. Usually, when I flame bot… I get second place generally & the first obviously goes to a Psyker or maybe a Scum. It happens every. single. time. Depending on if your team isn’t ammo hungry, but yeah that’s such nonsense. Just by virtue of saying this either one, you don’t Zealot or 2, you don’t use the flamer. :person_shrugging:

With how badly the needle keeps shifting on power creep I’m sure in a year’s time we’ll have the new DLCs one of which will be Scum DPS but Arbites level safe and durable, with simpler weapons. And then we will be saying Scum has been made obsolete.

And then Scrier’s Gaze gets gold toughness generation in order to “balance” the class up to the same level
