Too many overpowered screen wiping builds

Also, strongly agree with the premise of this thread. Game is in serious need of a balance pass to flatten the power differential between builds.

Rumblegryn has been op since the tree rework. I suspect very little people play it because all the explosions can tank performance.

PBB has always been this way though. The 50% ammo refund just solved the reason no played it. At the very least FS capped burn at 16 now instead of 32.

hasnt recent patch(es) remedied that somewhat, for about half a year i wasnt bothered with the grenade box explosions or any at all :thinking:

explosions and burn from light em up hasn’t worked until recently. that is a pretty gross change all on its own, Grenade Gauntlet can clear rooms with it and it has very little splash damage outside the punch.

rumbler is what got ‘hail of fire’ nerfed though, which still sucks and is garbage.

Wait, since when does light em up work with explosions?

The other option is the voidblast staff. The rest are pretty much useless on higher diffs. Psyker needs new staves and a dot build .

At this point, I don’t believe the game can be balanced. Players are used to things totally OP. They never use things balanced.
An example. In my mind, what should be the reference are:

  • combat axe for melee (this one is picked by players)
  • combat shotgun for ranged (yes I said combat shotgun)

But we are far away of this. And I don’t even talk about talents (gold toughness by example… but not just this one).
Exactly why I ask a solo game mode. Because I do not believe any more in this game. They destroyed it.
I just want to be able to play with a stub autopistol and a tactical axe (example of something rarely picked by players) without being a dead corpse for my team… but Fatshark does not want to allow me to play with all weapons :frowning:

This just naturally happens with games with talent trees, if it’s not the inferno staff it will always be something else.

Talent trees and multiple classes with 5 different game modes is way too complex to balance.

So what happens is any weapon that has cleave is now a meta, because the spawns are so high.

Plasma gun shooting a door screen lights up with 5-9 special kills, insane horde density flames stack more.

Game would be more fun without the talent trees, because the gameplay would become a lot easier to balance across the board. Then instead of balancing a weapon to perform in havoc 40, they can just make weapon modifiers that only affect the specific game mode and difficulty.

Players in regular mode will instantly be drawn to any weapon capable of melting in havoc 40, the only nice thing right now is all the weapons/builds are viable in Aurics and regular. It’s just most can’t be used in higher havocs making havocs less fun.

I’d argue players are hard stuck on difficulty becuase their weapons are carrying and doing so much dps that they don’t get as much chances to practice the combat system. Ie the dps is so high the mechanics don’t matter until havoc 30+ and these mechanics they didn’t get the chance to learn one shots them

And yes talents tree are hard to balance but I would add that a talent tree is even harder to balance when you never start to balance your game and let things become worse day by day…

They made lot of game modes… except the only one that I wanted. A mode with few elite / specials (like at the beginning) and mass hordes. And with elites that don’t die in 2 seconds. And also monstrosities that can last more than 20 seconds.

About balance, I agree it is hard to balance the game actually. But they never tried. We all know several things that are too strong. But they left them untouched and this lasts for years.

I completely disagree here. Yes, there will always be a meta but the point is that the meta shouldn’t just delete whole rooms full of strong elite enemies in seconds without any effort. You can have 20 classes with skill trees and not implement stupid things like this. The Ogryn frag bomb is the only one that can be excused, as it is very limited and you can’t just spam it.

You are framing it as “havoc too easy”. You should specify that you want auric to be harder, the “screen wiping” builds are fine in h40 standards.

If you don’t, fatshark is just gonna make havoc harder and throw random blanket nerfs for no reason probably.

this isnt a havoc thing, this is a gamewide thing

i havent had fun in auric in a long time. the cause is not because i find it too easy, but because i cant find the gameplay i play the game for there anymore. i love engaging with the melee combat, its not like anything else on the market and thats what makes it so special. regardless whether you find auric easy or hard, its always fun to just run into a room and fight the ene- oh wait they got wiped before i even could do anything or reach them. maybe the next room i’ll oh theyre already gone too. hm.

i actually got pretty upset after my first run of the event which was a few days after it dropped, after hearing so much about how difficult it was and how crazy the situations were, only for my run to be the exact same thing of the entire room being gone in 4 seconds before any fun or interaction could be had, and the sole cause is literally just way the game has let this kind of stuff thrive rather than being reigned in.

this game is turning more and more into warframe where the enemies are an afterthought as they all die instantly and you run to the mission end screen, but without any of the parts that people like about warframe that make that work.

Seriously. I’ve never had so much fun as when I dropped staff play as primary weap and completely neglected soulblaze talents and blessings. Not going back gain.
