There are too many classes that can make builds that just take any fun or challenge out of the game, be it Ogrynheimer, Hive Scum, or multiple Psyker builds. It used to be that the Psyker was the “glass cannon” but what happened was the flame staff got buffed and the psyker is now tankier than other classes.
I used to quit games with a flame staff Psykers in it, as it is just boring but now I have to dodge half the lobbies.
Another big problem is that the game gets balanced around these classes when we want high difficulty and that is why we keep seeing these endless walls of Carapace that keep spawning. Good luck dealing with them when you are 4 people that play normal builds and non meta weapons, while a Hive Scum can delete 20 Crushers with one rocket or chem grenade.
The flame staff is incredibly annoying now to meet. I noticed there’s a 50% chance of encountering a psyker in the lobby, and 50% of them play with it. It’s fine in open-world expeditions, but on regular maps it becomes a disaster, that forces to avoid these teams. They just burn all the fun for other players.
I almost never ever come across Gungryn Ogryns and never see Ogryns decimate everything on screen like Vet Kraks, Psycher Anything, or Scum Rockets etc.
Unless you’re talking about the nuke that pretty much only kills chaff and merely tickles everything else and with only an ammo count of 1 with no regen.
So yeah, bit confused by the Ogryn finger pointing.
Did the same…
Must say that the lack of solo game mode impacts me more than I would like…
As a result I have found the ultimate solution. I play a different game. Darktide is close to the nostalgia at this point (1 game max per day).
What am i gonna do, zip around in melee with a glass canon and inevitably explode in one hit because the server and/or the audio sh*ts itself like it always does multiple times a game
OR
Hold left click, be immune to range (well, unless the server sh*ts itself) and wipe the screen every 15 seconds (well, unless the server eats your Vent and it still goes on CD)
Maybe but i’ll stick with boring until Fatshark figures out how a one shot 2 meters away to my right didn’t in fact hit me, and 1 second after the animation is over at that
Or why the run ending enemy should, in fact, have audio
Oh wait hahaha they won’t, they couldn’t figure that out the last 3.5 years and they won’t figure that out now, because they don’t give a sh*t
Ah yes the enemies that cause the least bother anyway…and still with an ammo count if 1.
Absolute pool noodle compared to the regening Vet krak that can take out 3 crushers in 1 blast.
It’s not even comparable. For 1 ammo count and no regen, the Ogryn nuke is absolutely not OP. For an ammo count of 1 and no regen, it should wipe the screen but it doesn’t.
It has to be a very specific build though that really sacrifices melee so no wonder no one chooses it tbh.
I don’t think I can remember a single game where I was annoyed at an ogryn for wiping everything. Whereas I can remember a billion times where Psycher, Vet Kraks, and Scum have done just that.
The way people speak about gungryn makes it sound really common but I genuinely mean it when I say I don’t recall a single instance in 2k hours.
Seems like a ‘meat-grinder test case’ woe more than anything but that’s just based off my experience.
The new 50% ammo returned on pbb (achlys twink stubber is good again with pbb) makes the melee sacrifice kinda irrelevant (btw gun scum is also weak in melee) also the paul is great on lugger builds Fire Away and Big Boom are already there in the tree and being able to explode everything on a 10 second cooldown doesn’t feel weak to me, if you don’t take the paul though then yes you will be week in melee.
They aren’t common in my experience either, the only times I see one is when I am the gungryn.
Have you ever played with an Ogryn using Rumbler and both fire talents and the blast radius on it? It basically clears the whole Psykhanium empty except for the crusher and with a Vet you aren’t even that ammo hungry.
I’m sure every class but one having full screen wipes is very healthy for the game and people enjoy basically watching two other classes solo all the content while they just walk around and look at things.
ive been running gunlugger twin stubber into havoc 40s since the latest patch and id consider it among the same levels of broken op as purgatus, with the only condition being that you have to have some small amount of ammo mindfulness (its recent buff has made the ammo economy honestly obscenely strong, and that was its only notable weakness).
also doesnt need to sacrifice melee because youre still out here deleting hordes and still have good damage against armor with power maul
if we wanna get into the evil and messed up realm of scoreboards, the result from a lot of these games were more than double anyone else’s damage, including some purg psykers, sometimes up to 3 million+ even in rotten armor (where it was actually more likely to occur) and typically taking substantially less ammo than anyone else, with the exception being the case of no one in the lobby needing ammo (scum, psyker, ammo efficient vet) and still getting that high damage output at the same time.
idk man this looks a little (way too) too strong for how easy it is, and you would get similar results with rumbler which is already the top pick for ogryn guns in general regardless of build for higher difficulties cuz its yet another dot spreading infinite cleave weapon
