There are a bunch of custom audio mods I’ll be creating and one of them is about making psykers feel more outright karkin insane than they already are by doing what they do best— hearing intrusive voices from daemon warp homies. If you remember Constant Drachenfels’ whispers in Vermintide II or the talking empress heart in Dishonored, that’s kind of what I’m going for.

To that end, these are instructions for anyone and everyone who’d like to be one of the intermingled chaos whispers. In a quiet place, record 5 seconds of nothing then slowly but audibly whisper each of these in order:

  • Kill them
  • You can’t trust them
  • They will betray you
  • Give in
  • Let go
  • Relinquish
  • Your emperor withers
  • Let the rot take you
  • Nurgle loves you
  • You are weak
  • We taste your weakness
  • Futile

That’ll end up around 1 minute and you can reply in this thread with an upload to https://whyp.it / somewhere or message the link if you prefer. Here’s an example of one recording: WhispersOfTheWarp | Whyp

Once I have enough different voices I’ll add some post-filtering/effects and mix them in the mod! If you want to opt-out of being in any credits let me know too.

Sounds like an amazing idea. I’d also suggest more voicelines that seem “too friendly to be true”.
Or is your idea here for the player to only hear the Nurgle daemons that lurk in the vicinity?
Could be cool to have several defined characters that try to get into your mind.

Also, good luck getting it to work. Modding soundfiles doesn’t seem too easy.

Yeah I just had to keep the list short so that people would be willing to participate. Not just Nurgle but any old daemon strolling past in the immaterium.

And cheers! I’ve finished solving a reliable way to trigger custom audio so I’m excited to open the doors for mods like this.

This sounds pretty fun. Makes me wish I had a mic that didn’t sound like something a 1960’s telephone operator might use.
