Peril is a reverse ammo mechanic with boons but also down on overspending…
Perhaps they could tone down the natural decay, self inflict corruption on active quell but reduce the overloading cost to a damaging / corrupting effect instead of all or nothing down.
Many talents, blessing to quell passively or take the quell hits in a pinch and add more reason for new corruption talents, new quelling talents, reason for warp resist, curios, beacon of purity zealots ect.
Being possessed by a demon (which is a very real threat for psykers) does not make you a daemonhost, making a daemonhost requires a very specific ritual.
Also I’d add OP does not equal fun, sometimes if I play with an OP player who’s abusing the power spikes I just leave not because he’s not good but because it’s not fun to play with.
If everything dying before I swing or even get there I’m not really playing… and likewise if I’m doing it… a reason I’ll actively slow down and glaze over to let more challenge arise or others to have some fun… kind of like playing Kerrilian with longbow but not head shoting everything/threat in sight.
Because most of us are either bad or don’t enjoy the infernus staff.
One thing I’ve come to accept is that some stuff feel completely fine to me until I have a “I know Kung-fu” moment and then I realize “maybe this shouldn’t be like this”.
I had that moment about the Inferno staff not long ago too. I really did go from “Wow, this is the weakest psyker staff” to “Wow, this breaks the game, doesn’t it.” over the course of 40 Havoc missions.
